she is the worst presenter on tv at the min
she's so wooden and can't tell jokes with out spoiling the punchline

Why start such a negative thread? Fair enough if you don't like her, but each year I get fed up of seeing a pile of instantly negative threads starting up like this.

However, if I am being fair, the forum is for everyone and you can say what you like! I just get slightly irritated by it.

I actually like Tess in her Strictly role - I do have issue with her over certain things, but she is part of the furniture now on Strictly, for me, having watched every single series!

Trouble is, she's there to mop up Brucie's meanderings, so it's difficult for anyone to appear natural. Even on the taped show he still looked lost at times and fluffed some of the cues. Tess is there to listen to the floor manager (Brucie refuses to wear an earpiece so he can't hear the instructions) and translate them somehow. Not an easy job actually and if she looks wooden it's probbaly becuase she's got so many other things going on that you don't see.

Much as I love Brucie, he can't present a live show like this and having a pair who really can, would make all the difference. But, it's not going to happen. No-one is going to boot Brucie out until he wants to go - and fair enough. He is tv royalty after all. I don't personally think he's up to the job all of the time - he never seems to get through one show without going off the rails somewhere or looking as though he's lost his place, but on the other hand there is no-one better to step in and ad-lib if necessary.

Re Tess - I'm no fan and I'd really like them to have someone who can dance presenting the show, but as I said at the top, not that many presenters will work with a co-host who doesn't use an earpiece becuase they end up doing twice the work! Who do you think gets paid the most ?

There's a lot more to it that just how they look - and even then I think they rae incredibly mis-matched.

The year Tess presented with Claudia one week when Brucie was off with flu we saw how good she really was. Brucie's presenting style is about him being an entertainer but Tess, rather than being an entertainer, is a presenter, and she actually keeps the show moving. She's not there to tell jokes, she's there to keep things on track and under control and she does that very well.

agree - have seen her do it live at Strictly and she really does carry a lot - there are always things she has to stop and listen to, and act on - this of course isn't seen on the show itself.

I think she does a very good job.

I think she's fine, have never understood the mean-spiritedness of [thankfully] a few posters who have said mean, unpleasant and unnecessary things about her. OK she's not the world's best presenter but if she went she would only be replaced by a like for like. They will never let anyone on who tries to top Brucie.

Tess is perhaps a little bit bland in comparison to someone like Claudia who's really quirky but at least Tess doesn't feel a need to make the show all about herself. I know Brucie is a legend but he tends to forget that the show is meant to be about the competing couples and not about himself. I think Tess is fine presenting Strictly.

I like Tess. What you see is what you get, I think. She's sound.

She is harmless enough - some of her outfits are a bit erm

She's no better or worse than any presenter who relies a lot on the autocue.
I don't think she has much personality.
I do find her and her husband's emphasis on "northern vowel sounds" a tad irritating. Particularly when they sometimes disappear when they are excited, caught off guard, or are speaking quickly.

It's an obvious and unnecessary affectation.

I'm happy with Tess and I agree she did a great job when she stood in for Brucie.

I like Tess and think she is a good presenter. She is hampered by having to work with, and act as a foil to Sir Wiggy Deadwood

Or brucie is hampered by something so wooden it should be out in the garden with dog's peeing up against it.

Agree with you there T.Queen. I Think Tess is OK and does the job fine.
As you say one gets fed up of the negative threads and remarks.
Posters have a go at Tess for her remarks with the Celebs do not realise that she is more than lightly told what to say!!

Couldn't agree more!!!!

Loved seeing Tess & Claudia doing that show - and would love to see that format in future........ but ABSOLUTELY no Ronnie Corbett (or, indeed, any of "Brucies golfing cronies" :sleep

Don't know why, when Bruce does eventually go, that there HAS to be a male presenter - Tess & Claudia would be my dream ticket!

Those are their accents, I speak like Tess and it's no affectation.

I agree completely! Tess front of house and Claudia backstage with the pros and celebs would be absolutely perfect!

I'm not aware of Tess Daily. Is it Tess Dalys newspaper?

In my opinion, Tess takes a hell of a lot of undeserved stick...not because she's the worst persenter that ever walked the earth, but because she has successfuly held down one of the most coveted presenting jobs in TV today.

A touh of the 'green-eyed monster" methinks!

Plus, I think if you are going to be negative about someone, at least spell their name right !!!

How much do you actually know about her ?
