Why do the men 'celebrate' when they were given their partners?

Do they think they are guaranteed to sleep with their dancing partner or something?

Most of the men that were given an attractive female partner jumped up in celebration (where as the women just did a dance across the dance floor to their partner, and to be fair a few of the men did this too)

It just seemed a bit out of order to me, as if theyre only happy because their partner is an attractive one.

But the reason im saying it is because what if that was your wife / partner and then some man is jumping up and down as if hes gonna sleep with her or something!

It just seems to me that they want the woman to feel good, like they're wanted. A happy partner makes for better dancing, therefore, more points. I don't thnk it was just the pretty ones they did it with.

For most of them it is the first time they get to talk to a real grown up lady, other than their mum.

They all went a bit ott with the reactions, men and women both. The producers probably set it up like that.

Oooooh, does it stem from Mummy-issues? Interesting, tell us more....

Because they are paid to. Also, the female pros did the same. Because they too are paid to.

yeh but for example when the slightly larger woman was picked, no reaction.

When the new one show presenter was picked, the man jumped up and down to celebrate.. seems a bit immature to me.

I was suprised at the dancers being a bit unprofessional thats all. And if that one show presenter has got a man i wonder what she made of it?

What a strange thread. This is TV. It's done for effect.

Mind you. It would be better TV if one of them, one day in the future, stuck two fingers down his throat and pretended to gag. Or, indeed, mouthed "Oh sh*t!" to the camera.

...erm... what do you people want?

I would say they are celebrating because a) They're paid to do so and b) they're not rude...

Strange thread indeed.

They all do it because it is part of their job

OP, are you assuming all the male dancers are heterosexual?

Presumably, because the production team told them to. They are told to do 'something for the camera', to try and create a bit of tension, drama, narrative, etc. It's the verbal equivalent of hyperbole.

It seems a polite hand shake is considered dead air space.

ok .. to all those people saying its an odd thread

Basically.. Yes i understand they are paid to do it and so on but lets compare..

When the professional female dancers were partnered with a man.. they did a little dance across the room, maybe pulling off a little dance move in the process and then met their partner. This is what they are paid to do, this is putting on entertainment.

Then.. when the professional men were partnered with a woman - when it was the old women i.e. the queen rockers wife or lulu.. there was no reaction. They did what the women did.. a little dance across the floor, maybe throwing in a dance move also.

This is what they are paid to do, i agree. And on some occassions the men did nothing, just walked across the room to their new partner.

But when it was the One Show presenter and Holly Valance instead i.e. 2 attractive women, proably the 2 most attractive there in my opinion - the male selected jumped up and down and went "Yess!!" - and it is that which i am talking about. Like i swear they think theyre guaranteed to sleep with them or something! (and going by the past series, i guess you cant blame them). but still, what if theyve got partners?

it just looked a bit immature i thought. I hope ive now explained this topic.

Of all the pro dancers to go over the top, no one was more ridiculous than Kristina Rhianoff; squealing and leaping into Jason Donovan's arms and wrapping her legs round him. Jason looked mortified.
If I was Mrs Donovan or Joe Calzaghe, I'd be less than delighted by her, too.

You blinked when Kristina got Jason then?

Why do the men 'celebrate' when they were given their partners?

For the same reason the women do - it's an entertainment show and there's been quite a build up to the moment!

I think this thread topic is a little bit sexist. If you want to talk about people celebrating then Kristina and Ola were as guilty of any of the men but I don't think the OP would accuse them of wanting to sleep with their partner. Artem clearly thought he was getting Edwina so could anyone blame him for 'celebrating' when he got Holly instead.

The pro's will have been around the celebs for a few days so they will probably have had an idea of who has the potential to be good so I think it would be natural to be happy if you get a contender rather than an also-ran.

So what you meant was, why did Artem and James act like they would be sleeping with their partners?

Um... ok. Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion and all that.

well good points. Now you mentioned it, yes calzaghes mrs did react quite a lot and thats with calzaghe in the audience!
Isppose, maybe it is because they have someone who could be a good dance partner rather than someone attractive

I preferred it when they had none of this stunt introductions and the Pros have to put on an act as if their in heaven no matter who they get.

I preferred it when they were first introduced in the training setup.

What an insult to suggest this about the male dancers. Its a television show - what should they do? They are professionals, trained (and paid) to act like they've got their dream partner, they want to flatter their celeb and make them feel confident. And apart from a couple of silly stage managed bits of bad acting like the Edwina bit, they succeeded very well. Erin did a few air punches and facial 'corrrrs' but I don't think that was because she wanted to sleep with Rory on sight!
