i mean, yet again they miss out on the top spot... having had 3 successive #2's with s club juniors, they have now had 3 (? ... not sure tbh) #2s with the saturdays...

i dont know of anyone else in the music business over the last 50 years who have had 6 #2's without ever getting a #1 !

I don't know when they'll get it because girl groups as a format seems to be rather dated, so I consider them very lucky to have as many successful top 10 singles as they have.I didn't know that Frankie and Rochelle (I don't even know who they are in the group) were at another band when they were pretty much kids and they lost the No.1 AGAIN!The good thing is that the whole band has stopped fighting for a No.1 and they have understood that it's all about the chart run and not the debut.Having a No.1 is a nice accomplishment, but it doesn't have much substance anymore, so they shouldn't worry imo.

I think they need a bit of a break from the charts and come back with a massive single.

I think they need to stop voicing their hopes for a number 1 and just let it happen. I know it's nice to have a number 1 but what's wrong with having lots of top 10 singles?

The other thing - it's a bit of a slap in the face to those who did buy the single.

BIB - Exactly.

I think they need a bit of a break from the charts and come back with a massive single.
I agree with this. I think they need to go away, figure out what sound they want and do it. They seem a little all over the place, in my opinion.

Well they just achieved their biggest first week sales, even beating JCGE. Any other week All Fired Up would have stormed to the top.

They've had SIXTEEN top ten singles (and four top ten albums) without a #1.

Quite incredible.

Lol no they've had TEN top ten singles, anyways, Im surprised they havent got it to be honest, they released tons of popular songs, though in all fairness, if they'd released it last week then it probably would have zoomed to the top no problem, I feel bad for them though simply because their song is better than Pixie's.

I don't see the appeal of getting a number 1
If it sells well and provides money for record label to keep the artist on the label, isnt that all that matters

Seems they're focused on getting a no 1 for the sake of it now, rather than concentrating on producing the best music that they possibly can.

Which is possibly why the music itself just isn't quite good enough.

I see the appeal if the song hits no 1 and has longevity, however between a song reaching no 1 and then plumetting the next week or a song hanging around the top 10 for a few weeks/months, I know which I would chose.

Frankie and Rochelle do have 16 top ten singles. They were pat of S Club 8 which produced the top ten singles One Step Closer, Sundown, Puppy Love, Automatic High and Fool No More.

Just realised that's 15, not 16, sorry.

Oh I wondered. I was thinking of The Saturdays alone, who had 11 singles altogether so far and 10 top 10 singles. Work was the only one that didn't get in the top 10 and that was because they released it too late and I'd say MJ's death has something to do with it too.

3 number 2's with S Club Juniors and 2 with the Saturdays ties them with Sash for most number 2 hits without a number 1

I quite like that the Saturdays show it's still hard to get a number 1 single, despite Pixie Lott somehow managing 3!

true, they famously didnt get a #1, but they only had 1 #2, swet had several #2's as well, but in quite sure frankie and rochelle (not the saturdays) must hold the record , jointly, for having the most #2's without having a #1.

Well they just achieved their biggest first week sales, even beating JCGE. Any other week All Fired Up would have stormed to the top.
... its all 'ifs' and 'buts'... the point is that they have again missed out on the top spot to yet another track the public regard as 'better'..

I don't see the appeal of getting a number 1

#1s are remembered, its a benchmark, its a (hollow?) achievement, #1s go down in history as being the uk's #1... ok it might not mean much, but in years to come someone will start a thread 'who was #1 when you were born' , and for this week it wont be the saturdays..

you forgot 'new direction' m8... kept off #1 by the ketchup song!

oh... has 'all fired up' only charted at #3?... i assumed it was #2 as the headline suggested pixie pipped them to the #1 spot...

it matters not though, 5 x #2's or 6... its still quite a record ..... or jinx!

You say that as if it fact. Clearly, of those actually buying the music, a majority think not. You simply cant say that one song is BETTER than another. You can say that Nadal is better than Murray as the facts are clear, but music is totally subjective. One persons opinion against another. the only thing you could state as fact is which one is more popular.

Bon Jovi have had TWENTY top 10 singles ... none of which were #1
Janet Jackson isn't far behind with seventeen.

Madonna has had twelve #2s, however she has had thirteen #1s.

so?.... the thread is about frankie and rochelle having 5 #2's without ever (yet) having a #1, and i believe that is a record.
