Doris Day has been become the oldest artist to have a top 10 album of previously unreleased material at the age of 87

Although Vera Lynn had a number one album at the age of 90 it was a greatest hits album

Amazingly My Heart is Doris Day's first top 10 UK charts album

Has anyone actually had a longer career than her?
Chuck Berry, maybe Tony Bennett?

And people say The Rolling Stones have longevity. *Tsk*

You couldn't make this up - this is the Adele effect - target the old dears with spending power. I mean the Deadwood Stage is timeless but this is just ridiculous.

I like a lot of Doris Day's songs and the way she sang.
But it seems odd that she has waited so long to release this album.

Patti Page...

First hit in 1947, still touring in her 80s...

Why?Lots of people think Example is ridiculous so surely its subjective.

DD is not to my personal taste (although I do like Secret Love) and as for Example, poor man's Faithless IMO.

Not necessarily just old dears, I'm 19 and had my copy pre-ordered for weeks. It never disappointed and quite rightly deserved a place in the Top 10. These are timeless recordings, made even more special by the fact that it was her late son who produced them. There's some really beautiful original songs and some fun cover versions.

These aren't new songs, though, are they? Just old ones but previously unreleased.

Oh shut up with your snidy Adele remarks.

In fact, please explain why this is ridiculous. That her fans of all ages are allowed to spend their own money how they want? That this isn't in your collection yet? Why?

Yeah some from the 50's which never got released, other's from the 80s, the last stuff she recorded before retiring from the music industry

Old dears with spending power who don't understand how torrents work

The Deadwood Stage is a bit of a novelty song, but it's just one of many hundreds of recordings which she made.

I've just listened to her new album, and I quite liked it. I would say that she still has a fantastic voice, but as these songs were recorded a couple of decades ago, the best I can say is that she still had a fantastic voice in her sixties. The production is pretty poor though - I dunno what it is exactly, but it sound cheap and cheesy.
