I love Laura Marling. She's one of my favourite artists at the moment and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her new album (released yesterday).

Has anyone else listened to it yet? I've just finished giving it my first listen through and wanted to know what others think. It's quite different from her first two albums, in my opinion, but I like it.

This girl's an amazing talent and she's still so young as well. She's a truly gifted and creative artist, something we lack so much now in our music culture.

I'm a fairly recent fan. I'm listening to some of ACIDK on youtube. I adore her first 2 albums.

It's got some really good reviews, being called "her third masterpiece" etc etc.

But I've not heard it yet either. Sorry.

I hadn't heard any of her music until just recently until "Sophia" started to get a lot of airplay on 6Music. Safe to say I'm a fan now - this song is beautiful.

Thats beautiful. I've never heard her stuff before. A song, I can relate too. So sad, but still uplifting to hear. Got good musical taste mimi.

I must have listened to her new album about three or four times now and I can safely say it's beautiful. I really think Laura Marling has some amazing talent and so I'd love to this album do very well.

Furthermore, I want to see her live! Hope she adds some Scottish dates to her tour

She was only 16 when she wrote that song. It's one of my favourite LM songs. I need to download it at some point.

If you like her music I recommend her first 2 albums Alas I Cannot Swim and I Speak Because I Can.

Both of them are available to listen to on Grooveshark

Listened to it twice now and though I was initially underwhelmed (I don't think A Creature I Don't Know is as good as I Speak Because I Can) I do really like it. Off to see her in October too, can't wait.

I think she has been very pivotal to the uk folk scene revival in the late 00s but for me her albums have been overhyped ...sure there have been a few gems on each tho...... The new album is a very different take and her voice doesn't shine for me on this album as it has on her previous two. This album is a departure and not as good...but maybe it is a grower?

I think pre- Laura and Mumford some modern uk folk has been vastly overlooked. ps- Perez Hilton recent said that he loves mumfords, Laura and that they are like country ...I was appalled by this. Surely uk folk has been the roots to many musical genres including country.....classic storytelling songs.....

I saw the album in HMV today. Will a normal case be released at any point or just a soft one? I prefer normal cases, soft ones are damaged easily.

I agree. Quite a few albums i own have now got scratched discs because that was the only format i could buy the album in.

Seeing as I only became a fan recently I wondered whether her other albums had been released in that format first before being released with hard cases?..

Lots of singers nowadays are releasing albums with soft covers. I wish they'd go back to normal cases.

I associate soft covers with bands/artists who are releasing their first EPs.

Maybe it's just me.

I agree Mimicole

Although they are cheaper to make, it can scratch the disc.

There is finally a version with a jewel case! It's on my Amazon wishlist.

I love Sophia. Especially the upbeat bit towards the end.

I like it, but it took a while to grow on me. Even now, I only like half the songs.
