1. Sophia Loren
2. Nancy Dell'Olio (with thanks for info to Nancy )
3. ??

Who is the third-most famous and meritorious?

Giacomo Casanova would not qualify for this list of living Italians. Mine's Giorgio Armani, for co-discovering with Ola Jordan the principle:

less clothes, more looked at.

Dolly Jordan's not Italian. I would have given her my spaghetti and meatballs if she'd asked.

I am quite fond of honest, simple Italian peasant cooking using good and fresh ingredients. There is an Italian restaurant in Paddington which in the basement offers smoochy dancing to a band, with Elvis music a specialty. Surprising that we hear so much about French cooks, but less about Italian cooks. Maybe Signora Dell'Olio could sing their praises.

Italian singers outdo the Welsh: Caruso, Gigli, Pavarotti, even Sinatra, Dean Martin and Perry Como. I hear La Scala is revered like the sacred turf of Wembley.

Restaurant was sounding really worth a visit - until you mentioned Elvis!

The restaurant is downhill as you walk from Paddington Station towards Bayswater. Called "Il something" it's been there for decades, at one time popular with the London film set. Minneastrone soup served there to me was out of this world.

For an Italian restaurant what could be better than
O sole mio from the three tenors?

Then It's now or never from Elvis the Pelvis with trembling thighs thrown in at no extra cost. Go on KC, deep down you know you like him . If Elvis lives and showed up on Strictly I would pair him with Gaynor Fairweather .

Why isn't Bruno on the list? He has starred in an Elton John music video after all. He must be famous by now.
