Samsung Galaxy s2 switcing question ?
My Galaxy is s2 is sim free, and I tried a 3 sim in the phone just now , where I live there is only 1 3 base station, my question is why does the phone keep switching between 3g and the H symbol, (3.5G) if there is only one mast near me, and 3 have also confirmed i only have the 1 mast, so its not switching to another mast . ?
Thanx |

I had exactly the same problem i think is may be a 3 and a galaxys 2 thing for what i can tell the phone switches back to 3g if there is no active date throughput or to save battery what you need to do is goto the keypad #*9900# goto fast dormancy and disable it then reboot the handset. This should help to a certain extent but not 100%,reading xda developers this will enable the H for longer and its supposed to save your battery again, Just to add you can always revert back by using #*9900#.

I think it's dependent on the strength of the signal you are receiving. It happens on mine when I'm indoors.

That code doesn't work on my S2.....I don't really find the switching a problem and don't notice any majorl change in downloading times. So I think I'll just be happy with it as it is....
@jcm193, I'm on the O2 network by the way so it's not 3 specific |

Yes and no with the galaxy s 2 it will still happen even if you have a full signal if your using something like tvcatchup or in my case slingplayer mobile or any other streaming for example using #*9900# will enable hspda for longer if you have any usable signal strengh

Are there and downsides to using this code?
Can it cause any problems? I have a S2 and want to be sure it is 100% safe to enter this code.

That code does not work for me either, i type it in to the phones keypad, the press the call button, and get invalid code.
In a full strength signal area, it still reverts back to 3g, but in some areas now getting Hspa + (on the 3 network) im getting 9 down and 1.4 up, thats fast, and impressive, well my other phone on Orange is only 1. 3 down. |

I have used the code and did not get any error messages.
No idea if it has made any difference. |
