I have never made macaroons before so I don't know how hard they are to make but choux pastry is quite easy when you get used to it. mmmmmmmm i'm hungry for eclairs now.

Macaroons are mind-numbingly easy to make. Weigh out the ingredients, fold them into whisked egg whites and bake on rice paper.

I can whip up profiteroles in no time flat. Easy and peasy
Seeing the enormous amount of time and faff involved in macaroons on The Great British Bake Off last week, I can categorically state that I'll never bother with those.

chouzx pastry I make that I can do and I find easy... Never ried macaroons but agreed what a faff on bake off... don't like them so won't be making anytime too soon

2 Egg Whites
100g (4 oz) ground almonds
100g (4 oz) caster sugar
25g (1 oz) ground rice
Few drops almond essence
blanched almonds to decorate
[LIST=1][*]Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold in remaining ingredients and mix to a fairly stiff dough[*]Shape into small balls and placed on a greased & lined baking tray, or on sheets of rice paper. Allow room to spread.[*]Flatten slightly and place an almond on top of each.[*]Bake for 20 minutes: 180 Conventional Oven, 155 Fan Oven or Mark 4 Gas oven[/LIST]
