Homeland - Season 1 - US Pace *No Spoilers*

Starts on October 2nd. I know there's probably another thread on here somewhere, but my browser keeps cutting out when I use the search function.

Showtime have put the - edited for nudity, and US only - opening episode up on youtube, so it's probably available to acquire now from other sources. No word on when Channel 4 will be showing it over here, so I'll probably be watching at US pace. You get more discussion at US pace anyway.

Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison
Damian Lewis as Nicholas Brody
Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson
David Harewood as David Estes
Diego Klattenhoff as Mike Faber

Is this the one from the makers of 24?

Just for the benefit of anybody who may not be aware, Channel 4 bought the UK rights to this show.

Define "similar to 24." It will deal with national security and a possible terrorist threat, but outside of that, I don't see a similarity to 24.

But why would you say the show having that subject matter is a "bad thing?" I wouldn't want "another 24" as far as narrative structure is concerned, but the subject is ripe for another series that takes a different approach.

I have seen it. Was a bit patchy, had it's good bits and bad. Nice to see Damian Lewis in it though.

After I read your post I went and found it. I liked it and would definatly watch further. Set the story up nice and the casting is good. If anyone is expecting this to be the new '24' then you will find this a lot of a slower burn. Worth checking out imo.

A pretty good pilot. The cast is fantastic and being on Showtime it is going to have very high production values. My only concern is how they are going to drag the story out over several seasons.

If its half as successful as 24 and lasts for half as long, it will do well.

Nice that C4 have got it, I was thinking that Sky Atlantic might get it.

It was ok if a bit slow. Like the premiss, could do without the Wife/Best friend drama. Mandy doing a fine role as ever.

I thought it was very good. Claire Danes has a strong chance of winning the Emmy for her role next year.

I didn't look at the cast list here or online, and double checked when I saw who was playing his wife.

It was just the right pace for a starter episode, lots of questions to be asked, and the set up for the series was great. If they pick up the pace, but keep the story together this could be a wonderful series.

Showtime should if this goes from strength to strength steal Sunday nights with this and Dexter.

This was the most promising pilot I've seen so far in the new season. Some originality in the subject matter and a top-notch cast. I watched it just before Dexter and I have to say, this is the one that made an impression.

Good to see Claire Danes in something decent, always thought she was talented but starred in a lot of crap movies.

Not all of her movies were crap. Btw, have you seen Temple Grandin the award winning (which includes acting honors for Ms. Danes) HBO film? If you haven't, check it out.

Most bloggers reckon this is the most promising new autumn show and I agree - very interesting premise and Lewis is excellent as usual. The final reveal was a bit out of place and out of pace, I thought, but I suppose it's following the conventions of a US pilot. Definitely going in the must-watch list.

Watched this a couple of days ago and I thought it was very well done. Very different to other stuff on tele and I think it has a lot of promise. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis are both fantastic actors.

Watched this last night, enjoyed it and will watch again, agree with previous posters that Claire Danes has always seemed a little blah, but she seems to be putting our a good portrayal of crazy, Damien Lewis is great and I was a little surprised to see Morena Baccarin in yet another show - hopefully it doesn't go the way of her last couple of outings, i.e cancelled just when it's getting good

I didn't recognise Claire Danes at first. Still, it has been several years since I last saw her in T3.

I think my biggest shock was realising that I had just seen Morena Baccarin's boobs I'm glad she doesn't have that awful short hair like in V.

I quite liked the pilot, although Mrs D wasn't bothered. It reminded me a little of AMC's Rubicon because of the slower pace.
