I really don't think it will get a #1, but I didn't expect Last Friday Night to either.

I personally just think six singles from a 12-track album is too much.

Yet she still has failed to release the best track: Circle the Drain !

I agree I didn't expect LFN to get to #1 and I agree Circle the Drain is the best song!

Didn't expect them to classily bow out whilst there was still money to be made.

Yeah, the singles are all doing amazing and selling the album, plus they're all boosting Katy's profile and doing well worldwide (sales and chart wise) so I see no reason to end the era. I even think if this does well they'll release a 7th.

I think the era should end personally
The one that got away is an ok song but its not BIG HIT material

I would rather her go away for a year and come out with album 3

personally i think people take her too seriously, she makes really catchy pop music and the imagery they came up with for teenage dream is perfect - i have a feeling this will be a huge hit , especially on american top40 radio

As a popstar, she is often underlooked as someone who does Average pop music and nothing groundbreaking. I really think she will have a long career personally. I know people question her album sales but so what. She isn't losing her label any money. I bet her label are loving her at the moment and can't wait for future albums.

You can't blame them for milking it, seeing as she's been a success, but as toanythingtaboo said, they could have quit while ahead. She's probably going to have another full-blown "Get This To Number 1" campaign. Embarrassing.

Agreed she is a pop star nothing more nothing less. Infact she is doing a great job at it too. I actually agree with most comments so far..... The one that got away is a great track and so is circle the drain. Both could have been the next release.

Surely if she wanted to beat Michael Jackson's record, she'd release a brand new song? It's extremely rare for a 6th single to get to #1, but if she released a completely new track, it wouldn't lose sales from being really old, and everybody having already bought the album.

I highly doubt this will get to #1. And I doubt she really cares!

I agree with this. Sure, I do like her, but she hasn't done anything revolutionary. It's just pop songs which people like. She's a good song-writer, below average singer, good entertainer, but what's most important is, people like the songs (not everybody, I think Teenage Dream is very boring, for example, but for the most part).

Her getting 5 #1s doesn't make her a musical legend or genius or anything. It just meant she released 5 consecutive singles which got very popular.

I think some people are getting a bit too worked up about it.

No it needs to be 6 tracks off the same album to break Michael's record

Oh, I see. Would it count if she re-released her album with extra songs? Because if it does, her label would do that if they were desperate to beat the record.

I don't think singles off re-releases count as they weren't on the original release they'd be treated as singles off a separate album release

Surprised that Katy has failed to release my favourite track from Teenage Dream - Circle the Drain. THAT has #1 all over it. I'm not sure about The One That Got Away. Album-track wise it's a sound enough song but as a single, I'm not sure. I didn't expect E.T or LFN to hit #1 though so you never know!

Talk about milking it!

If she really had to release another track, it should have been Peacock or Circle the Drain

I like TOTGA, and I saw it coming if there was a 6th single because it's the fastest slow song on the album, but I can't see it getting #1. I like the whole "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" attitude her label has though; it shows guts and loyalty to their artist's record!

Still, the epicness of the Last Friday Night video, record-equaling 5th #1, and multiple VMA triumph, would have been a brilliant way to end the album.

It was one of my early favourites from TD. Don't listen to it much now though. I like the Radiohead/Johnny & June Carter refs. It's a smart song.

It's a shame she's not releasing Hummingbird Heartbeat or Not Like The Movies, they're the best ones left!

Sorry but six is far to many singles to be releasing off one album. Did there not use to be a cap on how many you could release off album. i am sure it used to be 4 singles off the same album.
