Not sure which one to get:

http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mob...NTERNET-TABLET

Which one is better quality? I know a lot about computers so I understand but wanted some opinions/reviews.

Thanks...

Search this forum for reviews, including mine, of the 101. It's a good budget tablet.

On the tech specs though, the Hannspree appears to have the upperhand, namely that it's got a dual-core 1ghz processor and 512mb RAM. The 101 is single core and 256mb RAM. The Android market can be installed on the Archos - check Youtube. Screen resolution is the same, 1200x600. Both equipped with Android 2.2.

Both are running Android 2.2. Google will not allow the market or any Google apps to be bundled on tablets over 7" running 2.2 as it is not tablet optimized. Its simple enough to put the market and other Google apps on after purchase though.

The other problem with tablets running 2.2 is that apps designed for tablets, will not be available on the market.

The Hannspree seems to have the same 3rd party support as the Vega, which means that while it ships with 2.2, it can easily be upgraded to the full market and Gingerbread.

Not sure, but I don't think the Archos has been rooted.

*eta* - the Archos is running a 1gHz A8. The Hannspree is running a Tegra 2, which has the potential for being considerably faster (and the games on the Tegra platform really are very, very good).

Its interesting to note that nowhere on the datasheets do Archos state how much RAM is on the device. Which isn't surprising, as looking around its only on 256meg, which is the absolute minimum for Android. The Hannspree is touting 512meg, so will likely offer a considerably better overall experience.

I had a chance to have a good play with the hanspree last night. I currently have an aPad and have played extensively with ipad, ipad2 and transformer. Hanspree definitely has a pretty good screen and no real issues with speed.

Default ROM is crap and definitely needs to be replaced. Good news there are three available to choose from. As long as you are not expecting a ipad2 or transformer then its a good tablet and definitely good VFM at £150. The only item I would mention is battery life is not stellar but what do you expect for the price.

Sorry, not used Archos 101 yet.

BTW, non of the tablets compares to the aPad for connectivity. How difficult is it to put a full size USB port on the tablet. the aPad also has ethernet port which I use all the time.

Two quite different devices.
Archos has the iPad 1 type CPU, being the lightest in the world.
The Hannspad is the first Tegra 2 tablet to be selling typical basic netbook price of £150.

Both are decent value at the discounted £150 though the Archos might be the one to hold value.
The Archos has certainly been rooted.

I don't see why the Archos would hold its value. The hanspree is effectively a generation ahead. And it also been root. There are choice of several custom roms to choose from.

The Hannspree is probably the best one, Tegra2 is a damn good platform.
