I went to Creamfields this year, basically a massive dance/trance festival seeing the likes of David Guetta, Tiest, Deadmau5 and Swwedish House Mafia.

Anyways, during the stop in music there were quite a massive group of people (men and women) chanting the lyrics to Spice Up Your Life... now this was quite surreal during a festival like this.

Then I went out on Monday night to a club, basically I got a drink and a song came in. It was again Spice Up Your Life. I have never seen a group of people run so fast to the dancefloor and go mental for the song.

So, do you think if they were to release another song, it would chart at #1? (Headlines in 2007 doesn't count, it was a bad song)
Or is the cheese of their songs over?

Dunno, drunk nostaligia is one thing, but selling records is another thing entirely.

For example, drunk students will dance and sing to pretty much anything from Chesney Hawks to F5ive (5ive?, Fi5vie?) but I don't think either should attempt a comeback.

Mind you, if you asked me 5 years ago whether take that could pull off a comeback i'd have "lol'd", so what do I know.

Well of course - they'll always be popular with those of us who were young and big fans of them at their peak Whether they would sell nowadays... Not sure.

Well anyone can sing a Spice Girls song

They will never reach that level again. None of the new generation will buy songs from a gang of Mothercare shoppers knocking 40. They would sell out with another tour though.

They're more like Spice Mums now I was a fan in the 90s and I have their Spice album and Greatest Hits on my ipod

they have their musical opening next year on the west end. there are big names attached to the project, which hopefully is a good sign. i can see people wanting to see the show for nostalgic purposes.

As much I would love them to come back with a new album, single and the whole shambang to light up the charts a la Take That, I can't see that happening. the 2007 reunion was the right time for them to make this kind of come back and didn't happen after the tour for whatever reason. They have really changed now - they are mothers, have they own solo careers back on track and unless they have something fresh and new to offer as a band - and they want to do it - there'll be just a pointless exercise. Still with the musical coming up, they could take us again by surprise

I still listen to Spice and Spiceworld.

They are very significant part of my life you know? its that 90s vibe you get from the songs but its that appeal. They werent a "typical cheesy" group, their messages in the songs were empowering all the time and confident....girl groups today are more "sex appeal, electropop generics and rivalry" Then it was about making iconic imagery, havig something to say and being tongue in cheek. And thats why i can happily say i listen to their stuff.

Name any girlband close?? Sugababes and The Saturdays have some corkers....but thats only "some" you know?

The Spice Girls, much like Take That (90s version), typify the general 90s party/good time vybe that was present for most of the decade. It does'nt surprise me that the songs have made an lasting impact in some form.

I was(and still am) into Dance Music/Club Culture etc, but for some reason (and I have no shame is saying this), both Spice Girls CDs seem to land in my CD collection during this time. Often you would throw something on like this when you where going out for the night and strangely enough I can remember NYE 1997 repeatedly singing Spice Up Your Life repeatedly in a bar/club crawl in Central London. It is actually a good pop song(and I had a great night).

I'm more shocked at Guetta, so called talented DJ performing at Creamfields. Far cry fro the days of Paul Oakenfold, Underworld and Carl Cox.
