Yes, I turned 18 this week 20 years ago and it's amazing to think that Bryan Adams had been number one since July and was still there. Then, 3 years later, Love Is All Around had been number one for almost as long when I turned 21.

Well yeah not all of, there was also Sabrina Johnson, Rozella and a few others.

The track you have posted is good, but it highlights the big problem with a lot of mainstream dance track that year-take one main song http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=...927&FORM=VIRE6 throw in a very famous sample http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1wg1DNHbNU add in a piano rift and hey presto.Of course this has always been the case since Disco in 1970s but they did take the p**s big time in 1991-although it was the era of the bedroom DJs.

I had forgotten about the biggest abomination of the lot (in 1991) until someone mentioned them above......2 Unlimited. And then there was Colour Me Bad ....

This brings back memories. I always used to listen to the top 40 rundown every Sunday and when it got to the number 2 single and Bryan's song still hadn't been played up to that point my heart used to sink. Also watching Top Of The Pops and seeing that blooming arrow hit that tree in the video for the 16th week in a row gave me the signal to turn the TV over.

I remember really loving I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred (I hate the song now) and being disappointed that it had to spend 6 weeks at No.2 because of Bryan. Their next single Deeply Dippy did get them that elusive No.1 the following year though.

Yeah lol
Back then when singles went to number one that meant ALOT of sales. Now nobody's even buying music any more, and any song that goes to number one spends like 2 days there before dropping 30 places.

I detest both Everything I Do and Love Is All Around. Two of the most disgustingly overhyped songs ever. Everything I Do is just too cheesy for me, and Love Is All Around is dreary old tosh.

I did love Anything For Love by Meatloaf, though, and that was number one for a many number of weeks also, I believe.

I loved Everything I Do, but I was only 10 at the time. I also loved Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves from which it was the theme, so you can tell what my taste was like at the time. I still think it's a good song (though I now realise how naff the film is!)

I always assumed the success of those two tracks was due to the big hit movies?

The Meatloaf track was probably more a of a true crowd pleaser, ie liked by all age groups and not subject to being a theme of a hit film.
