Shouldn't she choose her own phone rather than you decide for her? Phones are very personal things. Different people like different things for a range of reasons. What's good for the goose isn't necessarily good for the gander in this case!

The iPhone 5 is imminent (many people suggesting an october release) and if your wife is about to be locked down into a contract for a couple of years, she might as well have the latest technology... |

Hey, iPhones are very intuitive and don't require a great technical skill to be able to use one. I personally think they are the best option out there for smartphones.

Remember HTC is a manufacture, it runs Android OS as does Samsung galaxy SII and lots of other phones. HTC, Samsung, etc then get to add their own front end to Android so you can have two phones both running android but have different look and feel. A lot of users like the HTC Sense interface and though their hardware may not be as good as Galaxy SII they find the interface easier to use. Personally I would say that if she wants a product that has been pre-configured and basically works without any fiddling then go for the apple. If she wants something that she is willing to spend some time customising and offers more flexibility then go for an android. Also I would say that bigger screen does not always mean better. It generally reduces battery life and she may find it too big to hold comfortably. |

Seems there is now a chance all HTC Android phones could be banned in the US.
Apple suggests "HTC could replace lost Android sales with phones the company makes using Microsoft Corp's Windows Phone operating system". This one relates to the Apple patent for a 'tap to dial' a phone number that is contained in emails. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/t...w/10003751.cms |

My sister since getting the Iphone 3gs will not pass it and says the Iphone is the best out there. I got the HTC Desire S last week. It tane me a few days to get used to it but I find its a great phone,
Signal on the HTC is great in 97% of my town. Only thing I will say though is that when my HTC has had no signal my sisters Iphone has had at lest one bar for signal and we are both on 02. Darren |

Wait until the beginning of October. All signs point towards a new iPhone about to be released. Might as well compare the latest Galaxy against the latest iPhone.

It's worth your wife also looking at the HTC or Samsung Windows Phone7 devices. That's a nice operating system too. Worth considering all the options!

From the link
"Apple said in an Aug. 25 filing there is no shortage of smartphones on the market and HTC could replace lost Android sales with phones the company makes using Microsoft Corp's Windows Phone operating system. " Either insanity has started to hit Apple (who'd I think would rather promote its own range of phones rather than tell a competitor who takes business away from Apple how to run their business) or they're planning something legally BIG against Google, namely the wiping out of Android from the face of the Earth through the courts of the US, Europe and beyond. |

If Apple started taking down every other phone OS developer with threats of patent infringement, I hope the EU and US competition authorities start to investigate their behaviour and bring forward sanctions should they find anti-competitive practices. If anything, these pathetic "patent wars" have got to end. |

Obviously if you are offered either it may be better to choose the iPhone 4, if only for its resale value,
