I can't see it either. That said, the industry is buzzing with talk that HTC are looking around for OS alternatives since the Google Motorola acquisition, so they may prioritise WP7 of their own accord. The other suggestion is that they may look at buying/licensing webOS from HP so they have another platform to build HTC Sense on to.

Anyway, this is horribly off topic so I'll shut up!

Apple telling HTC to use Windows Phone... Microsoft's, it's main competitor in the computing industry, Windows Phone...

Either insanity has started to hit Apple (who'd I think would rather promote its own range of phones rather than tell a competitor who takes business away from Apple how to run their business) or they're planning something legally BIG against Google, namely the wiping out of Android from the face of the Earth through the courts of the US, Europe and beyond.
Never ever going to happen. As much as apple would love to, it will never happen.

Seems there is now a chance all HTC Android phones could be banned in the US.
Apple suggests "HTC could replace lost Android sales with phones the company makes using Microsoft Corp's Windows Phone operating system".

This one relates to the Apple patent for a 'tap to dial' a phone number that is contained in emails.

Like Apple first came up with that idea.

They get more odious as a company all the time.

Indeed. Apple really need bringing down a peg or two. They used to be the upstart "cool" company competing against the industry giants but now they are behaving as if all other competition should be banned and that Apple is the One True Way. They have a court injunction against Samsung in Europe and now want to take on HTC in the US. They are becoming the Evil Empire of tech.

there are rumours that Samsung is going to do the same to Apple over wireless patents used in iphone 5, though perhaps only in the far east where it might be said that Samsung has 'home advantage'. Of course, amusing as this may be, the consumer is the one that loses out.

I would get your misses to go to a phone shop and have a play with a HTC Desire HD and a Samsung Galaxy S2. Then she should chose a phone on what she likes. If she is a little bit tech minded, then she can do a hell of a lot with an android phone, than she can with a iphone. If she isnt, then she can still use an android phone as it comes out of the box. ios is very polished and easy to use. Give to an old person, and they will probably feel at ease with ios than android. Ios is easier to use.

Despite what people say on here, an android phone will work perfectly fine out of the box. No need to tinker with it. Android allows the user to tinker with it quite a bit, if they wish to do so. You dont get that option with iphone, its locked down tight.

The imminent release of the iphone 5, was meant to be around late September, however there is no concrete dates yet. Even if it is released, the HTC Sensation and SGS2, will more than match the iphone5 for spec and performance. Value for money, apple is miles behind.

If she is happy with the iphone it would be better to wait till the iphone 5 is announced hopefully next month.
HTC also have a new Sensation coming out the XE with a 1.5 dual core cpu

Sooner or later they be up in front of the EU with possible huge fines just as Microsoft were, their anti competitive behaviour is getting beyond the joke.
