I think Mollie is the only one that no one would notice was missing They could easily find another generic blonde to fill her role.

Assuming that she has passed the 3 months stage, she'll be around 6 months by the time the tour comes around. Hmm she can still take part but idk. Congratulations to her though, who cares about a band when you're having your first baby wwoooohooooo

Una is currently saying that she is committed to the band, and though i believe her, when her baby is born her priorities will most likely change, she wont be able to take a newborn everywhere with her, and it'll be to difficult for her to follow the usual saturdays hectic work schedule, travelling all around the world etc, when she has to look after a baby, its really not possible to do both at the same time, there is maternity leave of course, but how long will that last? 6 months? By that time she'll have bonded with the baby and be quite reluctant to go travelling around singing songs whilst her baby is left at home.

This thought crossed my mind too.

But they don't. They are only successful in the UK, which means they only really need to be around London. They only reason they seem to go abroad is to shoot videos, they have never had much success anywhere else, so it's not like not visiting those countries will badly effect the group. It'll be much easier for her because of that. I presume she and Ben are based in London, which means she can attend meetings and tv promo and then go back home, like every other working mother in the country. It'll only be when they are releasing that it becomes difficult, because she'll have to travel up and down the UK for radio etc but she could take her baby with her, and if not it's only for a short period of time. And with this tour in December it could easily be the summer of 2013 or after before they tour again anyway.

I think people think its a bigger deal than it really is. It's really just up to her, if she wants to carry on or not, rather than it being actually possible. A lot of mothers don't want to work when they have a new baby and she may well decide that. But to me, if she says she wants to carry on then I have no reason to disbelieve her. Because she simply can if she wants too, she wouldn't be the first.

I get what you're saying, but the saturdays have reccently talked of expansion of their project to the rest of Europe, thats what i was referring to, Una probably wouldnt feel right jetting across the continent whilst having to leave the baby at home, she wouldnt be able to bring it with her because it would disrupt the development of the child.

Really? Especially in their earlier stuff, it was pretty much Una and Vanessa singing.

If Una were to leave it would ruin the Sats for me.

Congrats to her! I think she has a good voice that is distinctive for a girl group so hope she doesn't leave but like others have said they aren't really big anywhere other than the UK are they? She might have to cut down on some of the promotion and public appearances but I don't see why she wouldn't be able to continue in the band after the baby is born.

I don't think Una will leave the group. She has waited and tried for years to make and she finally has. She won't give it up. The group still has another 3 years at least before they should think of disbanding. The Spice Girls managed to continue with babies. Congrats to her anyway. She is a big part of the band.

No. She had her baby between 3 & Taller in More ways but she justified her departure by wanting to spend more time with her child at the time.

It has to be a mix of both. She's in a manufactured band with a hectic schedule whose ain't going to slow down the pace because she's now a mother. The Spice Girls may have managed to stay together while both Victoria and Mel B were pregnant but the situation was rather different. They were pretty much their own management!? As you said, it's all down to her and at the moment, we - and even she - can't really know what she'll decide to do once the baby is born etc.

not sure how you can say they are manufactured? they were not made from a tv show were they?

also i think Una will be able to juggle being a mother and singer fine. though this could cause the Sats to take a break for most of next year. she's gonna make a great mum

That's not quite what manufactured means.

They were created by a record company who auditoned girls, whittled them down through a serious of stages until they had a final 5.

Absolutely no different to how, say One Direction or such were formed, other than it wasn't broadcast on TV.

Someone like JLS, on the other hand, are an organic band even though they did become famous on The X Factor.

You say the Spice Girls stayed together after 2 of them got pregnant. Not really Goodbye in 1998 was the last big hit from them, Mel B and VB were both pregnant in the vid. They came back around 2000ish but the next album bombed, then they split only to come back in 2007 for a greatest hits revival tour.

There's no perfect time to get pregnant, though, especially when you're part of a girl band.

Well if you're a solo artist you don't need to worry about letting other people down. Una is pregnant, and that's FANTASTIC for her and Ben (I'm genuinely thrilled for them ) but it creates alot of uncertainty for the rest of The Sats and how they'll cope without a member in the upcoming year and whether or not Una will want to return. It's also awkward because although the other girls are all happy for Una, i'd assume they're also unsure as to where they stand and what's going to happen to them without Una and if she doesn't return after she has her baby.

It's very bad timing for The Saturdays because they're at a very important part in their career. They had the fantastic debut, they had the flop era, they had the "recovery" era and now they're about to properly launch an album (that's going to have three singles promoting it, and it's going to be released at a very competitive time. This album is seriously important for them) and then go on their first arena tour with the potential to establish themselves as the UK's biggest girl band. There were plans for the girls to release in other markets next year as well. Ideally, if this album and tour went well the girls were going to have more opportunities outside of the UK and start living up to their potential. It's a difficult decision for Una because she obviously couldn't get pregnant in her first couple of years as a Saturday (especially when she'd worked all her life to be a recording artist) and if this album did well and The Sats started travelling the world next year, it'd mean Una would be under more pressure to commit to the band and pregnancy would be out of the question.

The only thing I can think of happening is that she'll film for the third (and probably fourth) singles videos, do the tour and then take time off. The other girls can do all the promoting and then in late 2012 Una can return to help promote a Greatest Hits CD, then they can go on another break and record for their fifth album in 2013, which means Una's baby will be a toddler and will be less 'hassle' for her to look after.

I can't believe people are talking about a greatest hits already. In my head The Saturdays are still just starting out, time seems to have flown! I hope they have another album before that goes out though, say 4 singles from this new one, which would take their total to 13 singles, and then 3-4 singles from an album late next year to take the total to 16-17 singles, then a 20 track greatest hits the year after that with 3-4 new tracks on, 2 of which could be released.

It's all fine during the pregnancy if you ask me. Una is pregnant so people can forgive her for sitting down on tour or just standing while the others break into a dance. In music videos Una can just sit or stand, do the least amount. It's when she has the baby that there'll be trouble for the band. You can't live a popstars life and be a mother if you ask me. How can The Saturdays promote all around the country and work solid and Una still be a mother? It's impossible...eventually Una will leave. She won't want to miss important things with her baby like first words, and bonding, and she won't want to drag the others back.

I agree. I don't know why a few people are dropping GH bomb of all the sudden.

They've had 11 singles, they're releasing a 12th later in the year and probably a 13th early next year. Throw in the single to promote the Greatest Hits, another new track and maybe some album tracks and you have yourself a tidy collection. It's the only logical move. They can't do a new album without Una, and they can't afford to take a break. A Greatest Hits will be comfortable for both Una and The Sats.

A bit like the economy then I can kinda see them releasing a Greatest Hits CD next year before taking a bit of time out (a bit like Britney releasing Greatest Hits: My Prerogative - didn't that come out after In The Zone?) to record their next album.

17-09-2011
Yeah, The GH came a year after In The Zone but Britney herself knew she was going away for a few years because she was planning a family. So yeah, the sats could do a GH.
