Does Google Navigation use 3G

I've just been on holiday in The Lakes & used the above.

today received a text from Vodafone to say I've nearly used my 500MB allowance & if I need to use more data, there is a charge of £5 per 500MB, will they just charge me if I go over.

Also does Google Navigation use the 3G, HSDPA signal?

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S2

Yes it uses the 3G/HSDAPA and your monthly data, well it dose on my HTC Disire S on 02 so I would say it dose for you as well.
I have the Google Navigation and the weather updates temp turned off on my phone.

yes I believe so. You might save a fair bit of data charges by pre-caching the maps at home though. (Hold down a spot on the map on your phone and you get an option like "pre-download" or "pre-cache" map, which gives you an area around the point you picked.
