Wearable vid cams for running races

John Karavitis Hi everybody. I do a lot of running, and I've taken to wearing a small vid cam on my baseball cap to record my participation in these races. The camera is a Chinese-knock-off (I think) of the Veho micro video camera.

I works great, I have no compalints, except that, of course, as I run, I move up and down, and thus I get "camera jitter". Is there any other affordable mini or micro wearable vid cam that either compensates for this effect or minimizes it? I know about the Contour and Go Pro Hero wearable vid cams, but I was hoping for something cheaper. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks. John V. Karavitis

I know what you mean about 'camera jitter'. I have the Swann Action Cam, and can not get any stable video when walking with it.

It's worse than sea sickness with the video swinging up and down with your step.

The only thing I can think of is a shoulder harness, which might be a bit more stable. I don't really know any action type cams that have stabilization built in.

I'll look into the Swann, it couldn't hurt. I've seen a vid on YouTube, the runner used a Go Pro Hero for a 10K (or 5K?) race, and it seemed good, actually a hell of a lot better than the Veho micro vid cam knock-off that I use. But I don't want to pay beaucoup dollars for a new vid cam. Also, a should harness, like some kind of streadi-cam contraption, is out of the question, although I am trying to create a gimbal that I could attach to a headstrap.

Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it. John V. Karavitis
