According to Wikipedia, this song charted at #9 in the UK but doesn't give a date.I've checked the O.C.C. Top 40s from 2004 to 2006 and the song doesn't appear in the 2006 edition of the Guinness Book of Hit Singles & Albums' either.
Does anyone know when exactly 'Take me away' by Stonebridge ft Therese made the UK Top 10 ?
(It was the follow-up to 'Put Em High' which reached #6 in Sept 2004).

The middle of the last decade was one of pop musics highlights IMO.Something for everyone..from soloist R'n'B acts like (Usher,Ciara & Akon) to guitar based pop/rock (Kasabian,The Killers & Linkin Park),Hip-Hop (Kanye West,50 Cent & Game) to AOR (James Blunt,Dido & Katie Melua) ,Reality show winners (Kelly Clarkson,Girls Aloud & Will Young) to vocal euro dance.(Eric Prydz,Ultrabeat & Scooter)
'Til it all went tits up in 2009 thanks to autotuning !

The Top 20 this week is starting to become a bit more varied than it has been though.

Im glad you noticed that. I dont listen to the charts anymore but I do check to see who is where and what is selling and I thought I was imagining a slight shift in styles.

I agree Leo,with the likes of Maroon 5,Ed Sheeran,Example,Snow Patrol & Will Young, looks like male vocals are back to redress the balance, regardless of musical genre. It's a start.
