This is why people are so fed up of her tbh. Her music is no better or different than some of the stuff that the likes of Akon, Nelly Furtado, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Robyn, Timbaland, Madonna, Cascada, Britney Spears, Flo Rida, September, and so on, release.
Listen to the instrumental of Bad Romance, then listen to the instrumental of Maneater by Nelly Furtado, or Cry For You by September, or Sorry by Madonna. She's doing nothing different! |

She's evolved and developed, she's no longer making bubblegum pop about getting drunk at house parties. Artists develop and change get over it.

And you know what also isn't original? Comparisons to Madonna.
who said i compared the two ...? the comparisons to madonna will always happen during gagas career if she continues to use madonnas ideas and music and try and pull it off as her own so all the young ignorant people who have not lived through the madonna years would think that gaga is very original and super untill they do thier homework on you tube and raid madonna videos with abuse just because they cant handle t he truth that gaga is indeed very much like madonna when in fact she is just a cheap and tacky version of madonna . |

Think what you like, others will do the same, but this thread has absolutely nothing to do with the Gaga/Madonna debate (which, frankly, is flogging a dead horse). I don't understand the mindset of the handful of Gaga detractors here who will - without fail - get in any related thread and post the same thing over and over again. If you're going to hate, make it relevant to the topic. Then at least you can hide behind the pretence that it's "debate". |

Isn't the hate Gaga gets... a bit much?
She's never had a bad word to say about other people or other artists. She does a lot for rights/charities. She's a competent performer/singer. She's not interested in sharing her private life. She admits constantly that she takes inspiration from other artists and has never claimed that she is original. Sure, she does do/say weird s*** from time to time, but it's never in harm (and again, she admits she does this ).This is supposed to be a positive thread. Yet she still gets the snarky comments. I'm not talking about anyone in particular (or this topic; it's in general), but you get what I mean. Fair enough if you don't like her music (I'm mostly indifferent myself when it comes to that), but she's not really the kind of person that's worth having a grudge on (aside from the fact that she's popular, which is all the reason to hate on someone these days...). Sure, in some ways she's similar to Madonna, Elton John, David Bowie etc... But it's not a big deal (at least it's good artists she "copies" from ). It's not worth it./pointless rant

This would be relevant had Tony claimed Gaga was a musical innovator, or said really anything to do with her actual music. But he didn't.
"She's absolutely brilliant at what she does. She's a very very magnificent performer. And she does know how to sing. And she does know how to play the piano. She sings very very well." So while he didn't call her an "innovator", to say that he didn't mention her music is false. Quote:

The thing is we all know Gaga can sing and is fantastic when its just her an a piano.
I think this is why so many hate her OTT image because she doesn't need it when she has the talent and people can say its really her all they want but it isn't. She is very much an attention queen. Its not art. Its PR whoring. Songs like Judas also do her no favours are its euro trashy 90's pop. Nothing more nothing less. Take that away and give her a piano, have her stripped back bare and let her sing raw emotion for 12 solid songs and it will be the biggest selling album of her career. Its the gimmicks people don't like

It seems that being popular = you're ripe for the picking.

Tony Bennett isn't the sort of guy who would ever criticise or say a bad word about anyone in public, especially about anyone he's worked with. I just wonder why he ever got involved with this Duets album. I can understand his interest in wanting to work with Amy Winehouse, whom he genuinely regarded as a future 'great'. But he can't sing any longer in the brilliant way he could 30 -40 years ago. And he should have bowed out from singing long before he ever reached his mid 80s.
It's undignified for someone of his stature to get involved in this kind of cr@p. |

It's undignified for someone of his stature to get involved in this kind of cr@p. Its a bizare situation but its usually the case when younger stars duet with the oldies. Infact most duets are business deals. Beyonce duets with so many people to cross over fanbases. |

Let's make one thing clear, Madonna was and is the biggest magpie the Pop Industry has ever seen. And I love Madonna. But lets not dance around the subject, if Gaga is accused of copying, then Madonna has ten times more to answer to. Music fans have such such short term memories, it's hilarious.
What exactly did she rip off from them? You can say Madonna copied alot of people but Queen and Bowie? you are having a laugh. The bigger artist you are the more liable claims made against you. This is standard. Gaga has been on the scene 3 years and has been threatened with lawsuits about 100 times. So if she keeps that up she'll make it to 1000 with ease. |

You've said this before and claimed she had copied Bowie and Queen but when asked to provide any sort of evidence you vanished from the topic so I'll ask again.

Obviously not musically but in terms of style and dress/costume in her more experimental periods. Also the idea of playing a character, which Bowie made famous, was touched upon in much of her output and videos. The whole "Erotica" period felt very much like a persona rather than Madonna herself. The way she conducted herself in interviews felt very Bowie-like. More singificantly, Freddie Mercury's performance style is almost a blue print for the hyperbolic, grand, OTT performances that Madonna did on tour. But the artist who I think she borrowed from most was Debbie Harry. The attitude, the style and some of the concepts in the eighties felt very Blondie-esque. |
