Lol JLS tried to crack the US, but flopped SO hard and got dropped from their US label. Leona and Alexandra have had #1s outside of the UK, but I'm not sure about Jedward...

I wouldn't say they flopped hard. They had one TV show and had absolutely zero airplay, plus they chose the worst song possible to release; 'Everybody In Love'.

Of course, Ruth Lorenzo went to #16 on the Spanish charts.

Exactly so they flopped and their US album got shelved. I liked Ruth.

I'll be interested to see how Leona and Alex do with their new singles abroad...

Lipstick was a hit for Jedward in a load of European countries and their album Planet Jedward has charted in Germany, Sweden and Austria. They've yet to have a European No.1 single though.

Right, then—I didn't think JLS had actually released in the States but I remembered they had done some promo so I was giving them the benefit.

I would not be at all surprised if Jedward found an audience in the US. They're unique and over the top and attractive—all very marketable qualities here.

There's something almost Californian about Jedward already Tommy. They seem obsessed with American pop culture and wouldn't be out of place on any US TV show.

JLS are not alone in not managing to crack the states. Bigger UK acts than them have failed miserably namely TT and McFly to name just 2. So don't make is sound like they were a failure

But they were. I'm not going to pretend otherwise. What happens to other groups is irrelevant, if JLS were good enough they would have done it, but the facts speak for themselves and it is clear that they flopped.

No wonder Jedward are so low on the list... UK sales only. I hope their appearance on CBB will help out Victory sales in the UK. They both work so hard.

It pissed me off when 1D performed on Red and Black and John and Edward were stuck in those stupid balls. There are many cross-over fans between 1D and Jedward, so I simply do not understand why J&E were not asked to perform at Red and Black. What is Louis thinking?! And then Louis has the cheek to admonish John for twisting his ankle during a performance. Good grief, man!

I find it a bit frustrating that 1D is so well-received in the UK and J&E are not promoted at all. I realise this is up to their music label, but it would be easy to turn their image around in the UK.

I heard that 1D cancelled an interview because 'there were too many fans'... can anyone imagine John and Edward doing something like this? Additionally, I saw 1D's performance at G.A.Y., three of them were soooo drunk. Wow - so professional!

Sorry, rant over.

1D have UK record label and Simon Cowell's backing, Jedward don't. Jedward succeeding musically here is kinda embarrassing to Mr Cowell one assumes.

Where do people get these sales figures from?

And don't forget Red Or Black was Cowell's own show, so of course he was going to put 1D on it.

I am questioning more Louis' judgement than Simon's. One would think that after 2 years of uncomplaining work, Louis would finally understand that he has two workhorses on his hands. His interview with Alan Carr where he dissed the idea of J&E singing with Britney was, for me, a telling moment. I am now convinced that Louis views J&E as a quick buck, and that is all.

Meanwhile, 1D, possibly one of the most contrived acts in existence, is offered the moon by Simon.

I just hope they can make it in the US... I still feel a film would be a fantastic introduction to the US market. Tara, while a bit travel-worn , might still be able to open some doors for them.

I guess I am just frustrated that, no matter how hard J&E try, they are slated by the music world in the UK while 1D, no matter if they diss their fans or show up drunk at a performance, are treated like the heir-apparent. I fully realise it is simply marketing, but Louis has really dropped the ball on J&E.

Perhaps Louis should visit one of their shows in Germany or Sweden... someone wrote on twitter that there were very few 'kids' in attendance and a lot of male fans. He needs to realise that J&E might get bored with the whole work-a-lot-and-still-get-slated thing after a while and simply pull the plug.

I knew Alex had the highest sales for a female in the last decade but Leona's Bleeding Love sold a lot more worldwide despite the fact she came 3rd in that list

"grown up" fans saw Louis during Eurovision and told him!
one of the main strengths the twins have is they are career perfectionist control freaks, always trying to make the show better! Seriously the second they feel Louis is holding them back more than he's helping them, he's gone!

There's only so many countries in the world though sometimes feel they should just give up on the UK and focus on Germany, Sweden, Russia and Asia!

The US is hard to break, you either need to be dead lucky, or have a lot of money thrown at you in marketing!

Seriously, you are just figuring that out?? I voted for Jedward on X factor, because I thought they were funny and entertaining, was never going to take them seriously, and you have to understand a lot of people don't as well.

Yeah, you're right... I guess I did know that it would be a quick buck. Unfortunately, I got my hopes up when the ride continued with Eurovision. I will never understand why the GBP dismisses their work ethic and overall showmanship. Perhaps J&E should just forget Britain as a viable market.

I am glad someone spoke with Louis. He just seems to in it for himself.

Re: the US, I actually think they would be well-received here. We have the Disney avenue... I think America would be fascinated with their 'twininess'... and they are handsome and, probably more important, winsome.

I'm surprised The Climb has sold more than Bad Boys.

I can't even remember what the Heroes single sounded like.

Lol that's an odd comparison.

Compare Alex and Joe's winner single sales, and Alex and Joe's debut single sales and I think you know who the winner is

I realise they are not directly comparable, I was not slating Alex at all, I'm a big fan and was just going down the list. I supposed The Climb had not sold that many copies, is all.

You heard incorrect. Management (due to health and safety) not 1D cancelled the interview. Have you seen the crowds those boys attract? Surely this is better than having a repeat of Hillsborough?

Were you at GAY or just watched on you tube? The boys were not drunk. Harry slipped on cake which was all over the stage from Niall's birthday cake and their number one celebration cake. The boys also tweeted that they weren't drunk but in high spirits from getting number one.

If someone didn't have their facts right re John and Edward you would soon put them right which is exactly what i am doing with this post

I apologise, Twingle. Yes, I only read about 1D's cancellation and only viewed their performance at GAY on youtube. I was not there, so I should not have made any judgement.

Please accept my apology.
