Amazon app store

V.strange - I installed an Amazon app store 'watcher' programme from Android market on my Transformer, and it lets you download the Amazon app store app.

Once I'd done this and signed in with my normal account, I'm allowed to download whatever I want, free and paid (I bought Peggle, woohoo!).

It's the genuine thing as my Amazon payment details were preloaded from my account.

Is this now working in the UK or did I just get a lucky glitch?

Probably a glitch as it still says US customers only. Does it show the prices in dollars or sterling?

Yep, prices in dollars - the only problem is that apps from the Amazon store don't show up in your android market list, but they're updateable from the Amazon app itself.

Apps are a lot cheaper on there too, surprise surprise. A good selection - there seems to be more content - downloaded a load of freebies that aren't on the UK Android store and the quality is excellent.

edit - from android market, search for amazon appstore notifier - should come up as first result "amazon appstore notifier and tips".

Start that up, use the option to dl amazon appstore proper.

Log in to the Amazon appstore app with your Amazon account, try getting a freebie, it'll tell you to activate one click buying. Do that, go back and dl freebie, uninstall the notifier & tips app and change password just as a precaution, and hey presto, amazon appstore access!

edit edit - DS is a pig to use with Opera browser.

I'd love to know if any other non-rooted folks have had success with this.

It is very easy to access the amazon app store, all you need to do is use a US postcode.
