Actually very impressive. She has added a lot of softness and subtlety, and light and shade to her performances this year, and is not just going for the big powerhouse vocals.

It may be a good sign. The video was ordered taken down immediately, which could be an indicator that Melanie's in contention for a place on the live shows.

She was really impressive in the clip : lots of light and shade with softer notes mixed in.

Eurostar. Our question was answered on Xpose on TV3 Melanie said she hasn't received any kind of vocal training and that she does all her vocal training herself by watching YouTube videos and watching back her performances. Melanie also said she has done some small gigs since last years X Factor to develop her skills.

I really don't understand the hate Melanie gets on the main forum, but to be honest the only hate I have seen towards Melanie has been on the DS XF forums lol. Twitter is surprisingly very positive about Melanie, the British public seem to love a good comeback story...

Over the years, I think the X Factor forum has become by far the most negative and hate filled of all the DS forums. By the middle of last year, I more or less abandoned ship and stopped posting here until the series was over. Half of all new threads were just poorly disguised attempts to big up the thread starters favourite contestants, usually by trying to savage and demonise whichever contestant that poster saw as the bigger threat to them.

It was definitely on the bad side of things last year - a lot of bitter people here. Seems to have changed a bit but hopefully when we get to the live shows, the supporters of the acts will migrate to the appreciation threads rather than post on the live threads.

This place is the only place on the web I tend to see popular acts get slated so regularly. Seems to happen to just about every act no matter how popular they may be. Everywhere else has nothing but positive thing's to say about her.
I might have to hide out in the appreciation section during the live shows.

Yes, I watched the interview with Glenda Gilson in full and for someone who has had no vocal training, Melanie's technique is fantastic. She certainly seems to have improved in the last 12 months and is adding a lot of soft notes alongside the big ones.

They seem to be seriously underestimating Melanie this year. A lot of talk about her being wooden and soulless and not having the X Factor....I've a feeling she will surprise people if and when she gets on the live shows.

It would be interesting if she was to make the later stages of the competition and she gets to work with the shows vocal coaches.

I totally agree to the extent that I don't think Melanie even knows herself how good she is. Vocal coaches will be salivating when they realise what she is capable of. If she makes lives anything can happen, one things for sure if she goes out of the show she'll go out fighting.

I have always believed that Melanie has no idea how good she is and just how much potential she has. It would be amazing to hear her after weeks of vocal lessons with X Factors team of coaches.

I completely agree with the posts above, Melanie really has no idea how great she is and we've yet to see her peak so it's something she definitely has to to showcase if she does get to the lives.
