I think I remember seeing a tabloid article saying they were on talking terms - Simon's too wrapped up on the US version to be overly concerned with the UK version at the moment, so as long as Cole and Cowell have made up I'd say she'd be far more likely.

I think Countrywise will be just under the 7m mark but it'll still do very well, and should benefit from the lead out.

Let's not forget than BBC were the fools that took Strictly out of the Sunday 8pm slot for 2009, leaving ITV to take over the slot with X Factor in 2009 - had BBC not done that, chances are X Factor would not have turned into a major hit for 2009 and 2010.

I can imagine BBC One thought that Strictly Come Dancing would be a brilliant lead in for new shows, completely disregarding ITV1 seeing the potential of a Sunday results show. A bit silly really, considering ITV1 had already move Dancing on Ice to Sunday's to give it a boost.

Very mixed bag of results for ITV last night. Ross did well compared to previous weeks but Burp was painfully low for a series premiere. X Factor meanwhile was robust enough, but underwhelming compared to 2009 and 2010, and it remains to be seen how much of that was down to the Strictly clash, which itself recovered well from last week's weather induced low rating, and how much is to do with general diminishing interest.

BBC Two had a great night with its David Croft tribute, but of course it's not uncommon for the channel to rate well on competitive Saturday nights, more than holding its own against the juggernauts on BBC One and ITV1. Channels 4 and 5 just collapsed really with dire shares recorded for both, although at least BB was up week-on-week for I think the fourth or fifth episode in a row now, so it's enjoying a good run with the departure of Mark and the arrival of scary Jem.

Not really the point though, it was getting ~10m at the time and the ITV1 Sunday line-up was getting thrashed at that time, it was only when X Factor moved to Sunday's that the situation changed somewhat.

I've followed the Strictly ratings quite closely and saw how badly it did in 2009 after they moved the results show off Sunday nights. However I did not recall Strictly boosting the 9pm hour as much as that though.

any guesses for what the results could be for both Strictly and X Factor.

I think 9.5million for Strictly and 11million for 12million for X Factor.

On Sunday 16th November 2008, Antiques Roadshow grabbed 10.11 million. Quite staggering. SCD was very strong that year with the final getting 12.97 million. It wasn't until the clash in XF in 09 when ratings dropped to around 8 million, with the final at around 10/11 million.

Yep, a definite double edged sword for the Beeb running that Sunday night show in 2008 because if they had never done that and stuck to a Saturday results show, I doubt ITV would have ever thought have stretching TXF out to 2 nights. But the fact the Beeb show was getting better ratings on Sunday than Saturday made them realise that the TV audience is bigger on Sundays and it gave them a chance to hook in viewers who don't watch TXF because they're out.

I see DS ratings reports were as error-strewn in 2008 as they are now - as if AR's 10m audience in November 2008 was "its best ever rating". The show used to get 14-15m viewers a week on Sunday teatimes in the 80s and early 90s...

Thanks for these stats D.M.N. I expected it to be down on last year due to the way this series has gone so far. But overall, that rating is disappointing IMO. I know the run time would have affected things, and a 35min clash won't have helped at all - hopefully we'll get a breakdown tomorrow. As I said last week though, TXF has struggled to get into some form of stride - and that 75min clash in 2009 puts the rating is perspective. With +1 it was just under 11.0m which in its own right is a great rating, its just underwhelming thats all. With another clash next week, ITV might have to re-think the scheduling. They should just run it from 8pm. The 7.30pm slot makes to sense due to the SCD clash and starting 30mins later wouldn't really affect it either. Isn't the clash longer next week? I think if the main show (exc. +1) goes below 10m then a some questions need to be asked. Hopefully tonight it can recover. Probs looking at 12.0m inc. +1.

It won't fall below 10m don't be silly. I Have a feeling that the Clash next week is shorter but i'm not sure. As Score said i expect this Series will grow as the series near the end

Not the BBC's finest hour. I don't think there was anything wrong in featuring said item in that show, but someone in the PR department certainly got carried away spinning it as the show's "first £1m find".

They must have visited a number of locations in over 30 years that had an item worth >£1m in situ that they could have examined.

I said under 10m excluding +1. It got 10.44m last night so its not beyond the realms of possibility if ITV continue to put it against SCD. And I've just checked and it clashes for mins next weekend.

Shorter by five minutes - it's a 30 minute clash. Strictly have been moved back by 25 minutes to a 6.25pm start, while The X Factor has been pushed to a 7.45pm start.

I Think it Clashes for only 20m Next with doesn't it and with the ammount of time if takes for X Factor to start Viewers would probally have only missed 1 act next Week. I think the Chances of it falling below 10m are maybe about 5%. It should be higher next week if they are clashing for a shorter period of time.

looking at that breakdown it seems like at 9:15 alot of people got board of the show

It may perhaps grow in momentum massively like SCD did last year, when it started off with 9 million, and ended the series with 14 million.
