Great ratings for the BBC1 shows. Strictly did brilliantly to be up 600k on the same stage last year, considering last year was its highest ever series. Clearly though, some of that increase will be down to the ridiculous opposition ITV1 are currently offering with Holding Out For A Hero. ITV are risking letting Strictly get much bigger this year if they leave things as they are. Countryfile increased to mega levels as expected and Spooks saw a small rise, however the share was static week-on-week.

Taking X-Factor by its own standards I think it did reasonably well. It does look underwhelming compared to last year but it was unlikely to be up in that area. The fact that it is still peaking at 13.9m suggests there is still a lot of interest in the result. I imagine they could boost it by making some new stories up if they really go for it, seems a bit early in the competition for that though! On the whole I think, like RZT says, it has peaked, just a case of making sure it remains stable or doesn't drop too much year-on-year.
Holding Out For A Hero had 2.29m (9.4%) without +1, which is probably the biggest waste of an X-Factor lead-in/lead-out ITV have ever had. (The Prisoner was worse but that was BGT)

Transformers did really well for Channel 4, considering its slot. Last year on the same night Channel 4 only had 600k (2.5%) in the 8pm hour. Sweeny Todd not too good.

Channel 5 did OKish. 0.9m for their movies nothing to get too excited about.
