Poor start for Terra Nova. No doubt about it - it should have done better than that and it definitely won't be sticking around unless it holds all that audience.

Great night for CBS - their comedies are off to an absolute flying start to the season. Incredibly strong numbers - and reward for the efforts they've put into building such a strong roster - something the other networks are now trying to follow.

A night to forget for ABC and NBC. The latter might not have been expecting a whole lot else, but there must be concerns for the former about DWTS. This seasons could be a really tough one - especially when The Voice returns to add to the Monday pile-up in February.

Victory for comedy! Amazing level of dominance and it makes it quite obvious why the networks are placing such emphasis on them. I wish British broadcasters saw the same opportunity...

A very strong night for CBS. Two And A Half Men still as high as a 7.2! Even Hawaii Five-0 looks strong this week. I think Fox will be gutted with how Terra Nova launched, I kind of got the impression they were hoping for at least a 4.0 for the premiere episode. It will probably drop into the mid 2's within a few weeks. A shame because it is good to see networks investing big money into dramas and scripted shows.

I'm not sure how this helps show WWE's demographic, or helps them at all. It means nothing.

Is it too early to talk Christmas? Wondering if ITV will put Downton Abbey's Christmas special on Christmas Day this year or go for the more lucrative option of Sunday 18th after The X Factor final.

Was wondering, do people think the whole 'no advertising interest' thing is truly down to no one wanting to advertise then, or because ITV never puts effort in?

Personally I'd love to see ITV just throw a completely random, different schedule with peculiar runtimes out there and see what the BBC do back!

3.00pm- The Queen
3.10pm- Film
4.50pm- The Cube: Christmas Special
5.50pm- News
6.00pm- Emmerdale
7.00pm- The X Factor: Winner's Story
8.00pm- Coronation Street (Part 1)
8.30pm- Downton Abbey: Christmas Special
9.45pm- Coronation Street (Part 2)
10.25pm- News
11.00pm- Film

Make sure Corrie's got a humungous storyline, trail it to high heaven, stick the Downton Abbey Christmas special in the middle of it... would be fascinating to see what BBC1 did against that. Yet another year of Doctor Who, EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing and The Royle Family?

Surely with a schedule like that, advertiser interest would be higher?

Of course it won't happen. Actual ITV1 schedule:

6.00pm- The Cube: Christmas Special
7.00pm- Emmerdale
8.00pm- Coronation Street
9.00pm- Poirot / Marple
11.00pm- News

Job's a good'un.

Jeremy Kyle's High Stakes gameshow is getting buried on Tuesday nights at 8pm.

I'd have put it Sundays, can't be any worse than Holding out for a Hero

The documentary seems to have included footage from a video game which it passed off as actual footage taken by the IRA!

Incredible.

The programme's reputation is in the toilet after only a single episode.

I see from the thread on the topic that US TV is starting to screen the next batch of Law and Order UK episodes (the last ones maybe???) whereas we will have to wait several more months.

Seems strange that as UK channels are fast tracking US shows here with inevitable stop/start scheduling - in order to avoid tempting viewers to watch them via other means - ITV do the exact opposite with one of their own series.

Not for the first time, of course.

Yes silly mistake but there were no new revelations in the documentary anyway. It was more of a re-telling of known facts. I think you could call it more of a history documentary than an investigative programme.
So not sure what the point of it was, other than giving the history of the relationship?

Potentially ABC have some major problems ahead of themselves and appear to be on the verge of a schedule collapse greater than the one we’ve seen at NBC. For all the problems NBC have they at least have football (plus The Office has remained a hit) which has helped keep them afloat but at this point ABC has Modern Family and that’s it. It seems to me that its asking an awful lot of one 30 minute slot to carry an entire network and with Dancing and Grey’s both sinking and Housewives set to end with a whimper and no new breakout hits to be seen that’s where ABC is heading. This could be quite a spectacular implosion to watch. And you’re right The Voice at midseason is only going to make matters worse for them.

Danny Cohen has been telling everyone he wants more comedy on BBC1 so he at least seems to have been paying attention. This explosion of comedy has been in the works for a couple of years in the US though. It was around 2009 that everyone started talking up comedy again and slowly but surely that's started to see some tangible results.

I agree its a shame Terra Nova hasn't worked as Fox hoped. It would be nice to see the broadcast networks going for scale and ambition and not just leaving it to HBO and to a lesser extent Showtime.

LOL. Did no one check this when making the show or airing it? The footage quite clearly is computer generated. Incredible!

Obviously not!

Unsurprisingly the programme's just been removed from the ITVplayer

EDIT: ITV response (reported in the Telegraph)

"The events featured in Exposure: Gaddafi and the IRA were genuine but it would appear that during the editing process the correct clip of the 1988 incident was not selected and other footage was mistakenly included in the film by producers.... This was an unfortunate case of human error for which we apologise.. the documentary would be re-edited to include the real footage before being made availabe again online"

DigiGuide has updated and we appear to have reached a stalemate with no change to the Strictly/TXF airtimes on Saturday 8th October. Last chance saloon to rectify that tomorrow, otherwise the two programmes will clash for half an hour between 7:30pm and 8pm.

In other news, Channel 4 is keeping those premieres coming. Transformers 2 will surely put a dent into the Strictly/TXF result programmes on Sunday 9th October, running 6:10pm to 9pm.

So why were ITV touting it as a 'major new current affairs series'? If it had nothing new to say, why did they call it "Exposure"? If it was simply a cut-and-paste history job, why did they take out full page ads in yesterday's broadsheets?

2) it would not have trailed Doc Martin the top rated non-soap programme of the night by much more than about 300k despite that show have around 6 times as many viewers in Total People.

Whilst Big Brother has been a disappointment so far compared to what it used to get on Channel 4, it is still rating strongly for Channel 5 compared to the average and the trend for the past 3 days has been encouraging with all of those shows up on the equivalent in the previous week. It's not the disaster some on here want to make it out to be.

For now at least, and annoyingly for the many haters, Big Brother would appear to be stable. The only real concern in the past 7 days has been Friday's eviction shows, which appeared to take a knock from Sky TV of all things.”

Totally understand what you are saying, but wasn't that always a given that it would do well in those demos? It;s not done anything extra ordinary for the channel considering the expectation, hype and money spent. I would say Big Brother will be seen as a big disappointment to those at Channel 5 HQ considering it was supposed to mark a big new start for the broadcaster...
