EastEnders had good repeat ratings so it was watched by 8.9m last night.

Premiere Week:

5. CW - 1.64m (0.8) Down 36%

CBS won Monday and Friday.

FOX won Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They also had a strong 4.1 average on Sunday night to finish second (due to animated comedies and football overrun).

ABC had a big win on Saturday with College Football. They had a 2.2 average for the night which makes a real difference because CBS in second had a 1.0.

NBC had a massive win on Sunday due to the football. Without it they'd be below a 2.0 rating for the week.

Unlikely as it seems but maybe they should try and poach Ramsay as he's doing Hotel Hell for FOX and given that Channel 4 will not renew his contract, it would be a good idea.

They need someone who has similar credentials to Alex. Maybe Rocco Forte who is Alex's uncle.

Channel 4 are burning through their big films. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen should do good business but it leaves the first half of 2012 a bit empty for premieres.

It wasn't, the new episodes of QoS are on Mondays at 10.35 and then repeated, usually on Fridays at 7.30 but at the moment on Saturday afternoons. I dunno why they bother with the 10.35 showing if they're doing a 7.30 repeat, given in previous years that was the only showing.


I don't know why everyone seems to think the BBC1 Christmas schedule is samey, you don't get people complaining about another Sunday of The X Factor and Downton Abbey. They're all bloody big shows, and it's not like they're the same every year, not to mention they put plenty of other new things on during the day and later in the evening. We had the Generation Game every Christmas Day from 1971 to 1982, apart from 'stEnders nothing else comes anywhere near that.

Anyway, I don't want to come across as some sort of database but back in 2000 BBC1 showed Titanic on Christmas Night, which is a rubbish idea because it's far too long, and it ran 5.45 to 8.50, and ITV seemed to just give up and shove everything around it in a really weird fashion, with Emmerdale in two halves at 5.45 and 7.45 and You've Been Framed at 8.15 (and I recall they repeated some of the clips to make it last 35 minutes and finish exactly at 8.50) and Corrie at 9.20, and it looked a mess, but in fact most of it ended up beating BBC1. That was a piss-poor Christmas Night for BBC1, actually, Lorraine Heggessey had just taken over and in January got her staff to pull crackers while watching it all back to see why it fell flat.

I'm sure if X Factor want the earlier slot, if they want to start at 5.30, then the BBC will be quite happy to let them have it. Otherwise if they wanted the 8pm slot they should bloody well stick to the 8pm slot.

And another reason for X Factor to stick to its 8pm slot. They should have a bit of consideration for their thicko audience.

Actually Dancc your attitude to C5 kind of highlights one of the problems with TV at the moment - TV chiefs far too keen to look for the positive in absolutely dismal figures and hence mediocre shows which only perform well with 34-37 blonde housewives with hazel eyes in Doncaster stay in the schedules longer than they should.

Yes, demos are important to an extent, but on weeknights at least TV is just stuck in a rutt on all channels at the moment and perhaps we need channel bosses to be far more brutal with shows which just don't perform.


Think Digital Spy missed the prefix "un" there! It all comes down to spin again (indeed nowadays ratings are more about spin than the ratings themselves) - although to be honest even you now Dancc are struggling to spin Big Brother's figures in a positive light


Would love to see the figures for 5pm/8pm on E4 over the last month - not really seen anything reports other than The Big Bang Theory since Friends was dropped.



I doubt they will but it would be great to see Downton on Christmas Day, though I think your prediction of the 18th is more likely (although I think The X Factor final is a week earlier). Even head to head with The Royle Family at 9pm it would stand a good chance.

I wonder if they might do a Parky style late-night show with Jonathan Ross on Christmas Day rather than a film.

Brekkie, I'm growing very tired of the constant personal remarks ALL of the time. I wasn't the only person to (quite reasonably in my view) defend The Gadget Show's performance last night, and yet predictably you single me out. If you have an issue with me take it up via PM. Nobody in this thread gives a toss about your petty grudge against me... including myself. It's tedious in the extreme.

Yeah, I've been impressed with Hollyoaks lately in ratings terms. It's bounced back well from the lows earlier in the year. Bit of a shame the EP has been replaced yet again which could derail the progress it's made. (hopefully not)

Pointless is the better of the two shows even though the set looks more like 'Odd One Out' from decades ago. I would imagine the +1 figures make 'The Chase' the more popular quiz some days. I record every episode of 'Pointless' - whereas with 'The Chase' I can take it or leave it, Bradley Walsh is a little too much 5 days a week.

It was only on until 7:15am due to the Rugby.

Will be interesting to see how Sky news ratings perform tonight with the Michael Jackso doctor trail. I'd think the figures could be in the 200-400k range.

Even with +1, The Chase (5-6pm) hasn't quite managed to average higher than Pointless (5.15-6pm) so far. For 5.15-6pm, The Chase has been very close on a few occasions (ahead with +1 included) but it hasn't managed to be ahead with the ITV1-only overnights yet. This week will be interesting as The Chase has a new lead-in, a cooking show called 'There's No Taste Like Home' instead of Midsomer Murders. Usually when ITV has veered away from MM in that slot, replacement programmes have rated worse. If TNTLH goes the same way and rates low for the slot (even though it's new and MM which normally occupies the slot are repeats), this could possibly have a negative knock on effect on The Chase and help Pointless widen its lead.

Terra Nova's numbers are not what FOX wanted. But DWTS numbers are doubly what ABC didn't want as well. Two and a Half Men may have affected them last week, but this is just a bad slump now for them. Could this season be lower than season 9 (Fall 2009)? Castle, on the other hand, is doing good business for ABC. 9% slip is really good. Granted, adjustment will kick in, but still good for Castle. The question is, are they FINALLY ready without DWTS? Even if they are ready, is there any room for Castle?

Really good night for CBS comedies, especially for 2 Broke Girls, which did really good at 8:30pm. Bit too soon, but this may be another hit for CBS. Building from HIMYM is really impressive. Very good result for Mike & Molly also. Comedy shows are starting to show life again. As for dramas, it is a mixed bag. NBC's Monday numbers looks even worse than last season. The CW's numbers are really depressing to watch.
