Was wondering, do people think the whole 'no advertising interest' thing is truly down to no one wanting to advertise then, or because ITV never puts effort in?
Personally I'd love to see ITV just throw a completely random, different schedule with peculiar runtimes out there and see what the BBC do back!
3.00pm- The Queen
3.10pm- Film
4.50pm- The Cube: Christmas Special
5.50pm- News
6.00pm- Emmerdale
7.00pm- The X Factor: Winner's Story
8.00pm- Coronation Street (Part 1)
8.30pm- Downton Abbey: Christmas Special
9.45pm- Coronation Street (Part 2)
10.25pm- News
11.00pm- Film
Make sure Corrie's got a humungous storyline, trail it to high heaven, stick the Downton Abbey Christmas special in the middle of it... would be fascinating to see what BBC1 did against that. Yet another year of Doctor Who, EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing and The Royle Family?
Surely with a schedule like that, advertiser interest would be higher?
Of course it won't happen. Actual ITV1 schedule:
6.00pm- The Cube: Christmas Special
7.00pm- Emmerdale
8.00pm- Coronation Street
9.00pm- Poirot / Marple
11.00pm- News
Job's a good'un.
”
I bet they want to, but they haven't got the balls - they know it just won't get the ratings on Christmas Day that it would get the previous Sunday, even if they did pull off an almost unheard of Christmas Night ratings victory. They simply can't risk something that could pull 11-12m viewers without massive competition in the hope it gets 9m and pulls off a shock Christmas NIght win.
BTW, I assume your reference to the TXF Final being on Sunday 18th is a mistake, and not something you know that we all don't? I thought it was confirmed as 10/11 December?

"The events featured in Exposure: Gaddafi and the IRA were genuine but it would appear that during the editing process the correct clip of the 1988 incident was not selected and other footage was mistakenly included in the film by producers.... This was an unfortunate case of human error for which we apologise.. the documentary would be re-edited to include the real footage before being made availabe again online"”
Staggering.
Fincham resigned as BBC1 boss because some clot at the independent production company edited footage of The Queen in the wrong order. Will he have to fall on his sword again?
(Not saying he should do. I don't think he should have quit last time either)

Good. "BBC bosses grow some balls" shocker....

Not ideal, I suppose. Nobody could have expected that. But there's a world of difference between 6pm at the start of October, even in an unseasonal heatwave, and 6pm during a July one.
Besides, I'm sure Sir Brucie has arranged biblical snowfalls for the day of the Final again...
