It's very random.”

Its Strictly, Doctor Who and Merlin this Saturday a 2 hour Strictly isn't an option. Could they have planned that better? Maybe but I think the Strictly/Who/Merlin line-up is a pretty brilliant one.

Judging from some of the comments on the Outnumbered thread, I think it and WILTY will be down in the ratings tonight simply because some people won't realise they're on tonight.

So the entire draw, opening and closing will be over in a period of about 3 minutes? Okay...

ITV Media says that 'Text Santa' will consist of an hour long 'plea' show in early December and a 3 hour live entertainment show over the Christmas fortnight. It looks like it's going to be a big event telethon and should take up a night of the Xmas fortnight. I don't know what night it'll be on, but it obviously won't be Xmas Eve/Day/Boxing Day as it's a live show. BBC1 always have their telethons on Fridays so my guess is that it'll be on Friday 23rd December (7-10pm). It blatantly won't do as well as Comic Relief/CIN ratings-wise, but I think it will do pretty well (a 5-6m average).

The Fades got 575,000 with HD included. A decent rating given it was bound to drop from episode 1. Not that its a show that will live or die by overnights anyway, repeat figures and iPlayer performance are vital for this type of show.

Any figures for Sky News for the last few nights? They have been dedicating a ridiculously over the top amount of airtime to the trial of Michael Jackson's doctor in the evenings. Not only is there more important stuff going on in the world but the trial itself makes for pretty dull viewing.

It'll be an advert - 20-30 seconds, perhaps a minute if they've pushed the boat out. ITV haven't signed a deal to broadcast it - it's just the Health Lottery have bought the ad time to show it. Perhaps Desmond has finally realised people don't actually watch C5 - though he'll learn the hardway people won't buy tickets for a lottery with lower prizes which donates less to charity than the National Lottery.

I'd say Wednesday is the best bet - saves upsetting the soap fans too much.

How long is the Jackson murder trial going to be and are Sky News going to show every second of it, hope its not as long as the OJ Simpson trial because that lasted for months.

On the news they said it was estimated to be 5-6 weeks. But perhaps these things can overrun, I've no idea.

It's due to last four weeks according to one of the papers so only three weeks to go - time to book a quick holiday ! At least BBC News toned it down last night and didn't carry so much.

The doc looks a lot like OJ. At times I am rubbing my eyes wondering if its 1997 again

1995 even longer than I thought.

I remember Laurie Mayer presenting Sky News every night for months with wall to wall OJ trial coverage. The days before the BBC had a news channel

Why was Outnumbered/WILTY on last night?
rzt
30-09-2011
Quite a low rating for EastEnders last night - obviously the weather wouldn't have helped but the share is a few points off its usual high 30s mark for a Thursday night. Watchdog did well, holding firm with the same rating as last with. Considering the switch of night which must've caught some people out, Outnumbered did okay but that's its lowest overnight rating since 2008. WILTY struggled to retain the Outnumbered audience as much as previous weeks, with a 67% retention it was down from the 70%+ holds from previous weeks. Solid rating for the Shirley Bassey biopic- quite close to the 3m mark which a lot of the one-off dramas/films have done on the channel recently. Billy Connolly's show down 0.5m from last week, partly due to the tougher competition compared to previous weeks. With its figures now in the low 4's, I suspect Hidden will do pretty well next Thursday against it.
