Jessie J has been named as the first judge of BBC talent show 'The Voice.'

Good choice that.

Think Moyles would be a big mistake, he's not charismatic enough to host a big show, think Cat Deely is too insipid too, nice girl, very pretty but too sickly sweet.
Davina could be good or Fearne Cotton or someone like Amanda Byram, she's done loads of hosting in the States and is hilarious on Total Wipeout.

Agreed, much more inspiring than what I thought they would go for. Promising, but plenty of room for them to mess up yet

It does highlight though how ITV make all their money from about 5 shows and the rest of the programming is run at close to zero.

ITV need to be careful not to over milk the golden goose to mix metaphors completely

Just breaking on Twitter:

(Sky1) Terra Nova: 842k.

I think that's for the full two hours, so an excellent rating.

EDIT: Breaking it down:
Episode 1 (8pm-9pm) - 961,700 (3.9%)
Episode 2 (9pm-10pm) - 721,900 (2.9%)

Yep! That's "yoof" and "urban" covered. Well as "urban" mainstream BBC1 can get. Am impressed with them getting Jessie J, was even announced over here on Dutch radio as well, so come next year I'm sure there will be quite a bit of Dutch viewers checking out BBC1.

Good figure for Daybreak. Another excellent figure for Doc Martin.

Poor start for Celebrity Death Wish and The Hotel Inspector.

Poor return for Motorway Cops. I'm not surpised to be honest - it's really not Monday 9pm fare in my view. It's not a bad show but it's a really uninspired choice for that slot. Excellent as ever for Doc Martin, whilst Dragons' Den did alright for its finale. BBC Two will be disappointed with Buzzcocks though, which rated lower than Have I Got Old News For You (1.7m) last week.

Solid enough night for 4. Over on 5, Celebrity Wishlist bombed even worse than the usual 7.30 fare. Shame to see a well intentioned programme doing so badly. The Gadget Show is rising though, so they'll be pleased about that. But The Hotel Inspector failed to sparkle on its return, I think a lot of people didn't realise it was back. Another case of a Channel 5 show getting lost amongst bigger competition I think. Big Brother was steady.

Watching C4 news yesterday, they showed a clip of interview with George Osborne from Daybreak, looked like a really tough interview Osborne looked really uncomfortable.

I am sure Motorway Cops does a lot better than this usually.

I think this shows the strength and popularity of Doc Martin is more than just being scheduled against a documentary on Royal Palaces as some have suggested...

Looks like moving back to Mondays was a good move for The Gadget Show, Hotel Inspector returned lower than usual but I think it will increase as the series goes on. Celebrity Wish List bombed so it'll only be time before its replaced with How Do They Do It? Repeats.

Do the 'as live' part of the 'overnights', only include those who don't spin through the ad breaks and literally watch it 'as live'?

When is the Voice due to start. I hope it doesn't go up against Britain's got talent becuase that would destroy the show straight away.

Dragons' Den is done and Embarrassing Bodies finishes next week so the competition is going to get gradually easier for The Hotel Inspector.

It's a shame as one of Channel 5's big shows it couldn't hold up better than that though for its premiere- that's its lowest ever opening numbers. I guess Doc Martin is just too much of a juggernaut and swallowing up a lot of the audience share.

With An Idiot Abroad, Strike Back and Glee that could make five Sky 1 shows top the 1m in one week. That'll be a first.

With Mount Pleasant performing well and the return of House, it's a purple patch for Sky 1.

Sky1 are enjoying an excellent start to the autumn season. A League of Their Own is back this week too, isn't it?

Apart from An Idiot Abroad I can't see any of the other shows sustaining audiences in excess of 1m every week though, so this week is probably going to be as good as it's going to get.

Perhaps folk assumed it was a repeat? I guess it wasn't trailed or anything, so relied only on people finding it.

DW not exactly powering away as autumn takes hold - c8.5m is holding firm.

Better news for Daybreak. Be nice to see them top 1m. I havent seen the show for ages... any big changes?

Also, anyone think the Salford changes to bbc breakfast will affect ratings?
Jonwo

Terra Nova did okay but the drop at 9pm is a bit worrying. I'm assuming it will move to 9pm from next week?

Doc Martin is a beast, it will continue until Martin Clunes decides to end it but given his production company makes the show, he'll continue with it on a series every other year.

Dunno. Let's wait for "trickytree" to revert on the "just the ads ratings" and see if it would make any significant difference.
