Hi all

I'm back safely too - to an empty house, the rotters! Seriously, it'll give me a chance to quietly watch SCD and X Factor for a while.

We had a lovely time - I'll write a bit more when I've had a cup of tea and recovered.

Had a great day today meeting some of the lovely ladies of the JJAT for lunch in a well-known restaurant in Leicester Square. Nyannie had kindly sent us all directions; however, I either never read the PM or (more likely) read it and thought the place was so easy to find, I didn't need to think about it.

How wrong was I ? Shall we just say that I spent a good 30 mins walking round and round Leicester Square, looking for said restaurant, half - catching the eye of numerous other women who seemed to be similarly confused. Could one of them be Georgy, or Augusta, or Ucra?? ( I had already met Nyannie elsewhere, so no confusion there). I finally ended up asking a 'Big Issue' seller for directions (offering to buy a mag if necessary, of course). He couldn't help, called over his mate who was similarly unable to assist; they then called another guy who they said was 'a guide, and must know' - but of course he didn't. So I went into Pizza Express to ask, no joy there either.

I had nyannie's phone number, but was she answering?? I think you can guess the answer to that by now. I was just about to give up when I saw the place, right next to the Tube exit, just as nyannie had said it would be. That will teach me to read directions next time.....

Anyway when I finally got there, I met the most lovely group of people: nyannie, georgy, augusta and ucra. Lunch passed in a buzz of animated conversation, and before we knew it we were on to the coffee and dessert. I had to have that after my escapades! We talked about life in general, and a bit about the threads on DS, and we laughed a lot. Nyannie had brought cookies and cards for everyone, and we also exchanged 'Secret Santa' gifts. What can I say, other than that it was like meeting up with real friends.

Just 3 hours for lunch was all we had; we hope to meet up again in the new year and would love to see some of those of you who were unable to come this time. Do come if you can (date and venue not yet arranged).

So......thank you nyannie, augusta, georgy and ucra for a lovely day, it was brilliant to meet up with you all.

Now I do need to get some sleep, so....

Goodnight JJAT

Sleep tight.

Good morning all.

Had a lovely time yesterday. Glad to hear everyone got home OK although we haven't heard from Augusta. Hope she is OK. She was the official thread photographer. If you want to see us (hope I don't look like a stuffed sausage), please contact her.

Sorry I had my phone on but guess the ring wasn't loud enough.

It is lovely to meet new friends and keep the old - like the song says, one is silver and the other is gold. What wonderful people the members of the JJAT are.

Next time I will try and make some Boston Bay cookies -they are a bit more substantial.

I have explained about my internet connection so if I'm not on do have a great Xmas.

Thought Holly was amazing on SCD last night. Also watched Henman win his match at the Albert Hall.

Busy day so best be off.

Enjoy your Sunday

it was lovely to meet up with you all,
After a fantastic morning and afternoon
I had a horrible trip home

there was a pile up on the A12,, and I sat there patiently (or impatiently if Im being truthful) waiting for the traffic to clear.

I was meant to be getting back to see mum and dad and see how his keyhole surgery had gone the day before, as he is having tests for yet another physical impairment....this time its some kind of lumps on his lungs......his results are due next week. But somehow I wasnt in the mood.
All I know is I am not looking forward at all to getting older.....

thanks again for a lovely day yesterday...

Hi augusta

Sorry to hear you had such a miserable journey home and that your dad is sick. Hope you get to see him soon.

Re: getting older......personally I believe it's not so much getting older that's the problem, it's getting ill Obviously the chances of illness etc increase with age, but I also know some very fit and active octogenarians Mostly down to the rub of the green, I think .....

Anyway hope you have a good day today, and it was great to meet you.

Ouch! Now if that was me, I would break something....

Now come on georgy
Come clean
What is the tree made out of ??

Every year we have a real one
And every year the pine needles
Drive me mad

So I am looking for an alternative
Is your tree made of wood?
Or another material?

Please let me know
before I go out this week
To get the tree

Thanks

Morning all!

Hope everyone is fine and dandy. Been reading about alternative Xmas trees - was in Saturday's Telegraph - by Rosie Millard. Does this help georgy?

Glad to hear you are safe and sound Augusta. Heard about the awful accident - people throwing bricks off a bridge. Honestly, some people!

Busy day today - making pepper, goat cheese and walnut parmieres, changing beds, housework and decorating the tree. We don't have a tree as we go away, but I decorate the house with gold twigs, candles and baubles. I try to keep everything gold and red.

Went to Osterley Park yesterday with my friend. Her friend was selling paintings. Have you noticed how expensive National Trust shops are?

Wonder if John likes the build-up to Christmas?

Best get off while my internet connection still works.

Morning all

Lovely and sunny and crisp here. Thanks for the reference about Chistmas trees nyannie - georgy, don't worry, you're off the hook on this one! You don't have to put the tree up and explain it to me Knowing us, we'll end up with a needle-dropping one anyway

Used to go to Osterley Park a lot, haven't been for ages - good idea - might make a sentimental journey there after Christmas

Well, loads to do today - and got to get it done in time to watch Fulham v Liverpool tonight. Go the Reds
