I actually think John made it clear why he would not be tweeting or interacting as readily as he used to do when he referenced "Misery".

We as forum members are still hear 6months after John left the stage - I think for John he may find that just a tad scary. If I could explain the process to John I would explain to him that as FM we have come to like to talk to each other either through posts - pm's - phone calls or meet ups - where as John or Josie was once the glue that binded us all together - this is not the case anymore - although we still like John and wish he was here doing something we could all support - we are more than happy he is getting on with his life privately but we as FM are now cyber friends and would like to stay that way - Don't be afraid John we on the JJAT are all quite normal - cannot comment about fans elsewhere

I can see the point in keeping it , it can stay as it is and he need never use it again, it is not interferring with anything or anyone. AND why should he delete something that is part of his history. It will always be there as a record that he did BB, enjoyed some of the experience and had fans, who would deny him this. He does not need to look at it now, but like old photographs he may well appreciate it when he is old and grey. lets face it a lot of us would like to feel that we were once famous enough to have all those twitter followers. It is doing no harm at all to leave his account as it is, to be used or not almost as a tribute, and a thankyou to those who supported him. He is surely gratefull of that support, and to delete twitter may feel to him as though he has dissmissed us, I do ot think he would feel like doing that.

As always Deefs I think you have said what I have been thinking. I still like John but don't think we will hear much if anything directly from him. That's fine although I would like to know what he is doing.

I have made some great cyber and real friends on this thread and I am eternally grateful for it. This thread saved my life - literally - last year when I was in a very dark place. What I've found is that we support each other through thick and thin, help each other when we are tired or have problems or under great stress. This is more than an appreciation thread, it's a group of people who care about each other.

I hope we all continue to stay in touch, meet up and continue to support each other - whether on this thread - or a new one.

Re John. It seemed to me that John only really used twitter when he was alone or bored. I don't think he is either now.

I agree with Deefs but do wish that he would just say thanks for your support but I am deleting my twitter as I want a private life. No one would think badly of him and it would give fans closure.

The thing I am most sorry about is that he didn't properly live in the UK. It wasn't a real life. I hope at some stage he will come and live for a year or two.

BIB 1 This is lovely, Annie, and so true. People are amazingly caring on here, and I almost regard it as a sort of group email account now!

BIB 2 I do wonder whether, in future, if we continue to have so little contact from John, we will gradually morph into something else like a friendship thread - but for now, perhaps it's best to stay as the JJAT- after all, appreciating John is what we all have in common

I agree with this Toothfairy. There are certain emails that I keep for years (like 'Happy new year' or 'Hope you feel better' from a good friend, that sort of thing). There's no logic to it as such, it just reminds me of good times or of a good person.

I guess Twitter could be a bit like that for John

Tbh this is a special AT.Wandering off into other shows and supporting other people and then coming back here for a common cause is pretty special.I fell out with people I had been with for 2 years on an AT for supporting John James.I must say I found it pretty childish.

I am angry at the way John was made to abandon twitter against his will.

I am new to DS (from last year) so don't have any experience of how AT's continue after the series are finished.- though I can see that some seem to keep going pretty well.

Sorry to hear you had to fall out with people because of your loyalty to John, As you say, I would have thought it is possible to appreciate more than one person at a time

ATs may or may not continue after the show finishes.A lot depends on what the housemate is up to.As you see from here you become close to people.We have managed to keep together despite liking different other hms on the new shows becuase we are a group of people who respect each other and there is no competetion.I have been on threads full of competetion and although I kept going back wards and forwards I think people felt betrayed because they didnt like John.There were issues as you see with me and the muckers that I was close to the hm.I had met him but not really close beyond a fan.John James fans dont have those sorts of things.People on Loys maybe closer but if they share news there is no problem.It may have been the context as motor sport is very competetive and the more exposure you get the more likely you are to attract sponsors and these forums give a lot of free exposure.They have to pay for every sentence lol

I don't see it like that at all!! I've got twitter but I haven't tweeted anything for months and months. It's only because I see some quite nasty things on there and it's not really my cup of tea. I keep it though because I might take to it one day, plus it can be quite interesting to see what everyone is talking about once in a while - yes, that't right, I'm nosey

Truth is, maybe he doesn't have particularly good memories of his time in the UK at the moment and doesn't want to rake it all up again. He has had some vile stuff tweeted to him in the past - why open himself up to all that again?

Anyway, he has always been his own person and I'm sure if he starts tweeting again it will be because he wants to and not because he is just going through the motionsl

I like the company on here, and it does feel as if everyone is a like minded friend.

but then its also lovely to have this thread where we get occasional imput from one or two other old friends as well. And on that basis its useful to hear what everyone else has to say and use the differing opinions to actually think clearly, and make a considered opinion about things.

But we do have the danger of spending a lot of our time going off topic.....or having to talk about John, to justify keeping the thread going....

I'm hooked on Strictly already I always feel sorry for the first one to go! I think Nancy will be in for a while because Anton is so popular - must admit I voted for him and Jason. Was tempted to vote for Russell too because he was sooooo happy and sweet during his dance - I was so pleased he got through.
