Don't see what the issue is tbh. Many have done a bit of modelling, but how is that relevant to the price of beans? She's been a stewardess and appeared on SMA too.

Critically, I'm not seeing a mismatch between the persona she's presenting to the voters and these underlying facts about her. Josie was on StarNow before BB11, but few believed that should be held against her. Most applicants these days have some prior media experience or are serial BB applicants. I assume pretty much all of them are media wannabees . . . comes with the territory. If we're going to judge the contest on the ideological purity of the applicants, then I guess Harry would win . . . but I don't think that's the best way to view it.

I agree with you that JOhn seems like the kind of person who once he trusts you would do anything for you.

But I agree with BBlover, I dont think the playfights or cuddling up to each other under the duvet, was John treating JOsie like his mum.

And watching the fuss about Jay and louise, under the covers, I hope JOsie is thanking her lucky stars that she and John werent more demonstrative!!

Josie has done a lovely article today about her and Luke, and how luke is moving in. She didnt mention JOhn at all.

Like you, I do think there was an element of this in John's attraction to Josie. That's not to say that he saw her only as a mother figure, but some wives incorporate an element of "mothering" into the husband-wife relationship, and I think this added to the attraction John had for Josie. There were imo a couple of different elements in the mothering aspect of the relationship:

i) Convenience: John may have been used to having things like washing done for him and Josie fulfilled that need in the house and adopted the house mother figure (not just for John, but more generally - albeit dressed up by treating the other HMs as 'usbands and muckers).

ii) Substitute emotional crutch: as an only son to a single mother and still living at home, he seems to have been protective of Helena with a strong emotional bond and it seemed to me that he needed a substitute figure whilst confined in the high pressure BB situation, and so transferred some of that emotional bond onto Josie.

None of that is saying that John didn't also have a sexual attraction, although his convo with Keeva when he claimed not to know what sexual attraction was does leave me a little unclear as to the true nature of his attraction to Josie.

John was a strange one at times,he said he didn't know what sexual frustration was,but then weeks later he was seen explaining what that was to Jose...so...

Most of them had some media experience anyway.We should judge them based on the show,not what happened before.

There in lies the problem,why is this an underlying fact.Aaron was studying law before his wife had an accident and was in a wheel chair for year while he took care of her and their son.His 'calculating' personality has all the traits of a law student.That is not alright but glamour modelling underlying is alright?

Then we should be consistent and not call Aaron 'manipulating and calculating' because he is a previous law student.Those are traits consistent with anyone interested in law.

John respects people only if he trusts them.

sorry i ran out on you earlier today
son needed me. Part of the reason for going to the museum on a monday is to take my son out, i,m introducing him to new things. He might not be able to write a sentence or add 2 plus 2 with his special needs , but if something interests him , he needs to know everything about the subject. Well at the V&A he fell in love with the works of Rodin, sat down really quietly, wouldn't move for a good 15 mins, had to keep going back through out the day to have another look. All day his been on his computer and he wanted to show me what he had found out.

I don't think his law student past is relevant. If I did think Aaron was calculating, it would be based solely on what I've watched on BB.

Guess you're picking up on stuff some MF posters may have said (I'm no longer following it). I spent the first couple of weeks of BB12 defending Rebeckah against pre-BB character assassination, so aren't surprised if the low standard of MF debate this year mean this has continued with the others eg, Jay/Justin's escorting. It's just smear tactics.

I am interested to hear about your son, and so pleased that you have support and are both enjoying your museum trips. It's great that you have found something that stimulates you both.

In my opinion BB have made Aaron the victim it gets people watching, people voting it was the only card they had to play.
No one is watching or interested.

I agree with the people that said BB is forum based there doesnt seem much interest outside of the forums. I cant imagine alot of people are voting.

Morning all. Hand hurts and I'm off to the Degas exhibition shortly - and tomorrow another hospital visit! Trees and hedges all nicely trimmed for the winter.

Have to agree with you ellemay. I've never seen such blatant victimization on BB. Part of me wants Aaron to walk. It would serve BB right. Better yet, have Jem walk - she hasn't contributed anything to the show but more conflict for her sister.

Can't agree with that Nyannie . . . especially as we're on the JJAT. Have you forgotten BB11 and the producers' attempts to destablise John?? This is not unusual. And actually it's a healthy thing imo, because unlike last year's winner Aaron will have been properly tested by the public vote if he wins. Ellemay is right too imo - forumers invariably go OTT with the martyr complex, as compared with the GBP . . . . but not so many of the latter are engaged with BB this year.

Agree with your points here Alex. John was dreadfully manipulated last year, which most of us here found quite upsetting. Also I've been meaning to say.....I never quite got how protective he was of his mum, when Nathan said he was staying in the same hotel etc, and John said in the DR, 'you don't understand, I need to be with her' or wtte.......but I do now, since muggins posted those newspaper reports.

Thanks Alex - your paragraph ii) sums up what I was trying to say. It is just that I found his attraction to Josie sometimes confusing because the emotional attraction was obvious but not always the sexual attraction. Also the fact that she had a habit sometimes of talking to him, not as an equal or a lover, but more like a naughty little boy ie., my little man etc.

Degas was wonderful! One of the best exhibitions I've seen in a very long time. Do go and see it - I think it finishes the 11th Dec. The drawings are so interesting and the pastels (my medium of choice) are exquisite. Hands not great so wearing the splints and finger grips now.

Just saw BB has meddled with nominations again as Jem has walked - Harry, Aaron, Jay and Faye up. I detest Jay so voting for Aaron, Harry and Faye. C5 should have either cancelled eviction or put all HMs up. Here goes another complaint to C5.

Anyway, carol rehearsals will commence again next week. Try and practice over the weekend.

Its so odd/frustrating that we have only had widespread literacy for about 100 with thousands of years of non literacy before that, and yet so many things are judged on academic achievements.

We bought our first dog from a lovely old man, who had spent his life, caring for animals particularly pigs, but he had recently lost his job cos he couldnt read or write. But he was so gentle and caring with his animals.... It was such a shame that his natural talent with animals was ignored cos he couldnt read.


I think John maybe felt more protective of his mum as he was such a long way away from her? And he also comes across as a caring protective sort of person who would want to look after his friends and family.
