Len acts all shocked too, but it is just an act on his part.

By giving out points like they do, putting all the contestants so close together in points, the judges cede their responsibility for determining who stays or goes on the basis of dance performance.

For those who may not know, the DWTS elimination algorithm is different than the SCD method. For DWTS the judges' points for each star is translated into a percentage of total points for the night, and that percentage is added then to the percentage of popular votes for each star.

for anyone who is interested in this the stats are on the puredwts website, once the elimination is known, someone does the maths to say how many "extra" votes per million cast have gone to other couples. They work with big numbers over there!

I think the standard is very low this season. I wasn't very impressed with the person who was eliminated - it was a very messy dance. Most of the dances looked a bit rough.

Wow, how do they work that out? Impressive stats.
I was a bit surprised by the elimination of this couple so early on. Thought they would be gone in week 5 though. It's all about public support. If you're not that well known and/or have the backing of special interest groups, you must be an excellent dancer to stay in. Like Giles Marini a couple of seasons back.

I haven't posted on this thread this series yet, but why are people using spoilers?

Who went home was a surprise, but the person who was eliminated was not particularly appealing and she was up against some people who had very good stories.

for anyone who is interested in this the stats are on the puredwts website, once the elimination is known, someone does the maths to say how many "extra" votes per million cast have gone to other couples. They work with big numbers over there!
Can someone please point me in the right direction with this? I can't see where the stats are.

You can read it here: http://www.puredwts.com/2011/10/04/d...y-the-numbers/

And here you can see the ratings. DWTS is no longer top dog. http://www.puredwts.com/2011/10/06/d...pt-26-oct-2nd/

It is comforting to know that the Great American Public is as thick as the Great British Public when it comes to voting

Pretty good show last night - Movie Week was certainly... interesting! The worst ones were probably Chynna and Carson, although at least he added some humour into it.

I'm not usually a fan of props/gimmicks, but I loved Ricki's dance.

I loved Carson's dance, although I didnt recognise him under all that make up. Technically it was awful but sooo much fun. I hope he stays in a while longer.

As a fan of David, I loved him coming down the zipwire, not quite shades of Widdi

off to watch a bit more.

Saw briefly DWTS got a mention on Lorraine this morning

Ricki is becoming a force to be reckoned with! Her Tango was something special. I thought Hope made a big improvement this week even if it wasn't reflected in her scores.
