Sounds stupid I know but daughter hates egg, was wondering anyone found a variation without egg in the middle?

Funny question! Why would you give a scotch egg to someone who doesn't like egg?! Can't she have a bag of crisps or something?

Can't you just it in half or put a slice in it and remove the egg.
The egg is normally whole and is not attached to the meat which surrounds it. You can then put whatever filling you want in it. |

That's kinda like asking for a drink without the liquid.
Try meatballs and bread them yourself? |

Just buy a large scotch egg and slice in half and take the egg out. |

The other suggestions wont taste the same. I'm with your daughter an a person that didn't like scotch eggs. But i like the meat and coating.
Just buy a large scotch egg and slice in half and take the egg out. I was trying to think of a variationto the filling, like the version with haddock instead of sausage, if you see what I mean Thanks for all your help anyway peeps

What about cheese - maybe you could use one of those mini balls of Mozzarella.

I was just going to suggest cheese. Or a mixture of cheese & rice. Kind of like Arancini di riso
http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/617591 Or how about a version of kibbeh. Lamb balls stuffed with lamb http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/644792 |

If it's a scotch egg with out the egg, it's a scotch and she might be a bit young for that (but she'll sleep well)

Lamb balls stuffed with lamb http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/644792 Make a ragu/bolognese sauce, mix some with risotto (more rice than ragu), when mixed and cold get an egg sized ball of the mixture and press a nugget of mozzarella into the middle, egg and breadcrumb then deep fry till golden and hot. Gorgeous!! Had the oddest arancini in Malta the other year. About the size of a cricket ball and filled with what can only be described as mince and potato in gravy!! |

If you could do without the sausage meat then the mozzarella stick (ball) is a great snack. |
