O2 price matching?
coopy

Hi guys,
Does anyone have any experience with bartering with O2? I've found an offer on mobiles.co.uk for a Samsung Galaxy S2 for £30/month + £100 for the phone on a 12 month contract but it's on TalkMobile. I've been with O2 for donkeys, do you think they'll match it? I went into a store at the weekend but they wouldn't budge, I thought I'd get some advice before I phone them!

Thanks

i managed to bag myself a better deal for the past 3 times i was up for a contract renewal until June this year with O2. It was cheaper for me to switch over to GiffGaff, i pay less and get the same amount of minutes free and unlimited txts / data usage , unfortunately O2 retentions said they couldn't match this deal so i left.

Only problem is you obviously don't get a phone from Giffgaff so you'd need your own handset.

Might be worthwhile taking a look here at the packages they do and if interested order a sim from here and get £5 free credit when topping up with your first £10.

i've been with Giffgaff since the end of June and i've already made more money then i've spent on top ups due to posting on there community forums where you earn points which convert to cash for helping others

Giffgaff runs on O2 so technically you've not left O2 you've just changed the name of the company.

true, although the O2 retentions team didn't even know this when i spoke with them which i found pretty shocking. Probably just trying to put me off leaving and try and get more money out of me.

Thanks for pointing that out, a important bit i forgot to add

Thanks for the info but it's not really an option - I can't really afford to shell out for the phone right now, and over a 12 month contract the TalkMobile option actually works out cheaper than GiffGaff after you factor in the cost of the handset

They even have the same parent company, both being owned by Telefonica.

It is truly unlimited, but coverage of 3G and speeds is as per O2.
