in reply to crisis3
There are 2 issues for CH5 to sort. How do they get better bookend show to complement BB better and secondly what happens when BB12 ends. Does everyone of their new precious audience go off to whatever else they watch with theold audience they have alienated simply staying away? There is a real risk that come November CH5 could see its market share fall like a stone just in time for the lucrative Xmas advertising period with a very real financial collapse of revenue. If there are any "crisis" meetings it not about BB now whats done is done its about what happens after BB can we restore some credibility with our traditional audience for old tired US reject shows. there are plenty of lessons to be learnt for next year ,the ball is firmly in channel 5's court as for bb12, i'm really not sure what can be done to salvage this show |

I'm not aware of any crisis meetings about the ratings.
I'm not saying that they're not going on, but I'm not aware of any based on any solid information I can rely upon. The problem here is if there are no such meetings Channel 5 are just going to laugh in the faces of the live-feed campaigners, some of which are probably trying to do things properly but are let down by others who are making rash comments on internet forums. With something like this I think it's so important to articulate your stance effectively. If a campaign is conducted by means of just lashing out and using tittle tattle as a substitute for rational argument, then I don't think it's going to have much hope against the means Channel 5 will have at their disposal. Their PR team will just manage the situation quite comfortably (As long as Jeff Ford doesn't say anything ).I mean things like using 'sock puppet' accounts to make it seem more were protesting on Facebook than was actually the case, and having a web site that offered to send each complaint that was entered 1000 times. That web site reported a total of messages sent which was then cited as if it were the number of different people complaining. Such things are a gift to anyone at C5 or Endemol who wants to argue against having a live feed. |

If there are any "crisis" meetings it not about BB now whats done is done its about what happens after BB can we restore some credibility with our traditional audience for old tired US reject shows. BB is currently too different from C5's other shows, and there is a danger that people who'd been enjoying C5's other shows will stay away at least for a while after BB12 ends -- "just in time for the lucrative Xmas advertising period". Also, BB's audience has such a different demographic mix from C5's other shows that the shows that lead in to BB help BB less than their audience size makes it seem. But if C5 has a longer-term strategy that's built around BB, poor performance this year may not matter that much to them. They may see it as something to build on rather than as a disaster. |

My biggest concern is C5's shocking disregard for the fans of BB. It's like walking into your favourite shop to find it's now owned by Vicky Pollard.

I don't think Ch.5 have any stratagy at all.....unless it's to try and sell 3 or 4 more copies of the Daily Star |

(Think I've said this before ) but I always thought the set up on C4 was lazy. A live eviction then nothing live or 'event-like' for another week. It used to work but now BB is something that needs a firework up its arse to keep going. If they did this: Monday - Live Speed Noms Tuesday - Pre-recorded highlights Wednesday - Live Task Thursday - Pre-recorded HLs Friday - SINGLE Live Eviction Show Sat/Sun - Pre-recorded highlights It breaks up the long run of missable highlights shows. I thought C5 would be throwing everything necessary at BB to make it really successful but they're just not. I can understand why C4 weren't particularly bothered from BB10 onwards but C5..??

Two relatively simple additions would help I reckon - Live Speed Noms and a Live Task - hosted by Brian.

I know - this is what I'm finding absolutely baffling. C5 are carrying on like this is a show they've been airing for years which they're tired of. They've made so little effort and seem intent of alienating every possible section of the audience.
*Pun was absolutely intended.

First ten minutes of today's show was a discussion about what was said about a biscuit. Good luck tomorrow, Channel 5.

You could say that "cidergate" for example, was just a discussion about cans of cider.

Tonight on BBBOTS, Emma asked if the name of their spoof music video they'd just shown was trending on Twitter....
Needless to say it wasn't. |

Apparently, Rebeckah was trending tonight, though, so perhaps the ratings will be up slightly?

Disregard for the fans? They saved BB from extinction by C4. Would you rather it remained cancelled
