Old Grey Whistle Test is still trending; "Rebeckah's" trending period seems to have been brief.

Old Grey Whistle Test is still trending even now, over a half after the shows finished on bbc4. (Looks like there's another one coming up later, though.)

It shows that even a minority channel can get people talking if it offers something they enjoy and want to tell others about.

I've said this before, but give the housemates stuff to do.

Keep them stimulated enough with simple, ongoing activities (Chickens! Vegetable Gardens! Books!) and they'll be alert enough to make their own entertainment and have proper conversations rather than bitch and argue, "flirt" in the most bored and half-arsed way possible or sit around waiting to be given a task- even if every single chicken, vegetable and book bit never makes the HL show, it'll pay dividends for the rest of the day.

It probably wouldn't hurt to make the HL show 30 minutes again, too.

It would be worth trying. Or games they could play? One thing I liked about bb5 was the 5-stone game they played, but I think the Boot Camp task was an important part of why the game was interesting, since the task brought HMs together in unusual combinations.

Which years had 30 minute highlights? 30 minutes seems awfully short to me, though when all the "previously" etc and ad breaks are taken out of the hour show, it comes in at only 40 minutes or so.

They got what they wanted.
Full control over everything and everyone annoyed loads on Facebook for daring to have negative views.

people have just given up and the ratings are showing it.

Those would have been poor for a midweek show.

The time for excuses is over. Those are poor ratings for a Big Brother eviction. Not sure what they can do now to recapture interest for this series, might just be best to write it off and start thinking about how they can put things right next year.

On the positive side, Bit on the Side performed excellently achieving an average of over 600k when it finished at 12:15am. It shows there is a loyal audience out there for the show who do appreciate what Channel 5 are doing.

About 18% down on the previous Friday. Crikey.

Worth noting An Idiot Abroad performed well as expected with 1.3m viewers for Sky. That's roughly 800k-1m more than they would normally get at 9pm, so probably had an effect.

But a pay channel should never be getting that close to Big Brother on eviction night. It's a sad sad day for any Big Brother fan.

Leave aside the main issue (livefeed)C5 Really need to up the PR with the Fans. The stories coming out like Nikki from the Radio its just shocking.

This Total Clampdown on all negative Facebook comments has to stop also.Okay theres no live feed so why not give people loads and loads of clips to at least give the impression of trying, they wont even do that.

Loads of little things C5 could do would make a hell of a difference to get fans back into the loop.

Agreed. C5 got BB wrong in so many ways which is a great shame because the h/ms are quite a good mix but, BB is now hardly mentioned in the media o/s of Dessie's publications. Basically, no-one talks about BB anymore and thus casual interest just disappears.

Think C5 will attempt to regenerate interest by throwing in a handful of new h/ms possibly with a big 'twist' but it may just be to late for this series. Needs a total rethink if there is another series

Things must be bad to erode your optimism!

A shame as it was a dramatic eviction that stirred things up nicely (not that we were allowed to see much of the fallout - that will be wasted on a Saturday HL show).

Awww. Dancc is broken I am not a fan of C5 or this years BB, but thats because I care about the integrity and future of the show, and these figures really do break my heart... its so sad.

On a great note, I am pleased with the viewing figs for Idiot Abroad, I wonder how many would have watched it if was terrestrial (I know a few people who would have liked to watch it but couldnt). It had been trending all day.

does anyone have any official figures yet? i would rather discuss those than overnights....

For what it's worth I'm not anticipating much of a drop into next week. I think it will continue at much the same level we've seen. 1.2-1.5m during the week, dropping to around 0.9m-1.2m at the weekend. These figures are still just about on the right side of decent for Channel 5 but not great for what was supposed to be their big new show of the autumn.

I think by Week 4 or 5 the weeknight shows will be getting around 0.8m
