It's more or less what I expected - no live feed = no buzz about the show and viewers don't get time to get to know the characters hence no big hate figures to drive eviction frenzy. I didn't watch the eviction show last night and actually had to go to this forum to see who got evicted as there was nothing on teletext - that kind of says it all about the show this year ...

I think C5 will just go further down the Towie/BBUS route to try & recover :/ Anyone else think a proper back to basics BBUK series would rate & be received much better?

The UARS sattelite crashed in a desolate area overnight with no harm to intelligent life.

Channel five has announced no plans to rebuild the big brother house

How about a 'Build Your Own House'? Soon show up the lazy ones and give them a proper task over a few weeks. Nothing like living in tents with an o/s shower to get the motivation going!

Are these now the lowest ever ratings for a Friday night eviction?

Does TOWIE launch on Sunday at the same time as BB ?

No I think it's on at 9pm on Sunday... it was last weekend anyway, and the weekend before I think.

I would have thought that last night would be seen as a BIG eviction.

If Rebeckah was the housemate who elicited the most emotion from BB viewers then it doesn't look promising for eviction nights when other housemates are up for eviction who don't provoke the same level of controversy.

I do think it was a mistake for BB to try and copy the style of other shows. Because I thought that part of the strength and appeal of BB was that it was its own show and the show that other reality shows tried to replicate.
BB is not the show that should be trying to replicate other minor shows.
It's like the big fish trying to be like a minnow.

Those figures are absolutely dreadful. This show is sinking fast.

The figures are not this bad just because of livefeed so what is the problem?

So they have lost 300K viewers since last weeks Friday eviction.
That is bad.

All english HM's not helping
All under 30....
too much sex talk
The Towie style edits Its Bigbother and should remain to the format,if the new format changes had worked but it hasnt.

1.5 million for the eviction of the most infamous housemate of this years show. Wow! Once upon a time the eviction of such a figure could have topped 6 million viewers.

You've got to congratulate Channel 5 and Endemol for having destroyed a show that once proved to be so successful. From the lack of any live coverage (something forum and networking site users made abundantly clear was the most important thing to them) to the unimaginative and frankly banal tasks and the sex obsessed vacuous housemates, they sure know how to produce a ratings loser.

And will they even acknowledge such complaints? Nah. Such issues are "dead" to them. A further PR disaster to add to the woes.

I believe it plays the biggest part. You could put a good group of housemates in a car park and still have a good show providing you get other things right, but Channel 5 chose to spend the money on worthless "celebs" and a pointlessly swanky house. If they had put that money to good use on the first night of Celeb BB by having extra live coverage on Channel 5 as well as a full on interactive system with some new extras like exclusive clips of diary room entries, celeb interviews as well as peoples own video messages giving their opinions, they could have made it one of the most interactive versions of BB in the world. It would have felt fresh and fully revitalized. Instead it's one of the least interactive BB's ever and continues to feel tired and spent.

Channel 5 are like a necrophile that dug a body up that Channel 4 killed just to bugger it.

To be honest, if C5 had any sense, or any broadcaster, they should have left this corpse well alone. Flogging a dead body in the vain hope of extracting money from is what fools and the greedy do.

Richard Desmond and his parasites deserve all they get.

I expected more, higher rating.

I think the Live Feed absence is the main fact the ratings are low now. I am a avid viewer I am a fan and I still love BB but I was left cold after the interview was over. I wanted to go back to the house via the live connection and see how its developing in the house. When I watched Bit On the side the end when that woman (the little one) said it is all kicking off in the house showed a tiny clip of Aaron and Jay kicking off and then she froze the clip It's our right to watch it not just their own staff. They expect people to join in watch BB and vote but they are not showing us the entire picture what BB is supposed to be. I also feel sorry for housemates, do they know they are not being shown?

You may be right. But it is beyond belief that they brought a show back only to treat it worse than Channel 4 did in its final 2 years.

SERIOUS problem now, and 5 cannot stick their heads in the sand any more about this

They are up to their necks in it, and have to do something to salvage this series before it's too late

can anything be done that will work though ?
i don't think so

channel 5 just have to hope that ratings don't slip too much further
channel 5 will just have to grin & bear it for the next 7 weeks ,even though it's getting embarrassing now

The lack of wider media hype is a more significant factor than live feed, IMO. Once upon a time BB was avidly covered by all the tabloid papers. Now they barely mention it (except for the Desmond titles).

The media can get people interested in a programme, but the media usually responds to what people are interested in (That's what happened with BB1). If you don't get them interested, you won't have a hit.

It doesn't help of course that BB is now a promotional tool for The Daily Star. Other media outlets are going to be less likely to cover it now.

That is true but the absence of live feed just makes it even more difficult to stimulate media interest.
