C4 did very well last night;
Seven Dwarves averaged 1.4m (6%) in the 9pm hour, and 239k (1.4%) an hour later, before new Shameless continued with 1.36m (8%) from 10pm and 176k (1.9%) on timeshift. |

The bubble has finally burst on Shameless and it looks like it has on Seven Dwarves too (which launched with well over 2m viewers). |

Great to see BB up 90k on last Tuesday's episode.
Not a massive rise but a step in the right direction. Not really going to plan for the whole "ratings will drop like a stone after week 1" brigade is it? ![]() Interesting character going this week, think the producers should make the most of this sudden surge, next week could be a disaster.

If you're trying to imply that person was me, you are wrong. I asked someone WHY they thought that when they were saying that about 2 days in, since the spinoff shows had done 1m+. I didn't say I thought it was impossible at any point, so don't you dare put words in my mouth.
![]() I don't even think Saturday's rating tells us much, especially given it's back up to 1.5 now. Channel 5 was plagued by technical problems in various parts of the country whilst the boxing was on and I think this affected their whole night. I don't expect it will be a regular thing. If being a shill gets you so upset, maybe a career change is needed? I never mentioned your name, I merely mentioned 'the thread' If its alright for you to refer to 'the thread' , why is it not for me? |

You call that very well?

BB launched with 5 million viewers, and you are saying thats ok at 1.4 million, and in the same breath claiming adrop from 2 mill to 1.4 (which BB has also done) means the show's bubble has burst. |

Where were you hiding when the ratings went under 1 million.
Interesting character going this week, think the producers should make the most of this sudden surge, next week could be a disaster. ![]() I'll cross that bridge when we come to it as I don't like to get too ahead of myself unlike folks on here. Personally I think Heaven will leave anyway and I don't think she'll be a massive loss to the show. But this battle of interesting characters as you put it sets the show up nicely for another bumper rating eviction night! |

BB launched with 2.6 million viewers. If you cannot get this simple statistic right, I don't think we have much to talk about, do you?
But lets just go with BB12 then, 2.6 million to 1.4 , you claim its doing OK, indeed, trying to mock people who said it was failing. But a C4 programme that drops from 2 million to 1.4 is, in your own words, had its 'bubble burst' You are tying yourself in knots contradicting yourself. |

so you would call 1.46m good for BB then
as i recall C5 want 2 million so they will have to work very hard to gain a lot of viewers Even if 2m was the target, there are lots of things we don't know: 1) Is that including or excluding timeshift? If the former, then the show is pretty close to that benchmark anyway- i.e. 1.75m for last Monday's episode, eviction show likely to be 2m+ last Friday. 2) Were they expecting as I suspect they were a higher rating launch that would inflate the average? If so, they would have been aiming lower for the highlights shows. What was the true benchmark? 3) What were they expecting in the commercially lucrative 16-34 demographic and is it meeting those expectations? A lot of issues to consider. It's certainly not as simple as you're making out. |

As Big Brother's audience appears to be rising, I think it would be dangerous to conclude too much from its early performance. A bit disappointing so far but recent trends are good. |

I expected ratings to be slightly higher. Rebeckah trended on Twitter after all - the first time anything BB related trended since the launch of the non-celeb BB.

Nobody said this mate. It was just speculative from a MediaGuardian journalist.

It's certainly not as simple as you're making out. 1. 2 million excluding timeshift 2. i was expecting a higher launch rating, around 3 - 3.5 million ,so the show went sub 1.5 million much sooner than i expected 3. i expect channel 5 will waffle on about 16-34's at some point as that was channel 4's standard response when the ratings began to slip "oh don't worry ,everything is just hunky dory ,just look at our 16-34 figures" |

![]() This thread does not all evolve round you and what you say .... You run off when the ratings dont suit your terrier style of promoting channel 5 and come back snapping at posters who have probably forgotten who you are. So take it easy please. |

I'm not the one comparing the two as personally I don't think you can. Big Brother is a nightly affair for 9 weeks, whereas Seven Dwarves is a 7 part weekly series. Personally I think launching with 2.9m in week 1 and having just 1.6m left by week 6 is not great for that show, and that is what I was disagreeing with happybbfan about. It seems that poster wants everyone to believe that all the Big Brother alternatives out there are doing great when sometimes they are just not.
As Big Brother's audience appears to be rising, I think it would be dangerous to conclude too much from its early performance. A bit disappointing so far but recent trends are good. Thanks. So basically, you are full of it. Its not even amusing any more |

"oh don't worry ,everything is just hunky dory ,just look at our 16-34 figures" The show achieved a 12.4% share of 16-34 yr olds in the 10pm hour last night, over 3 times as big as Channel 5's average share in this demo of 3.8% (excluding BB) for yesterday. |

Oi...thats a bit harsh towards Charlottesweb...she does not say it was you...What makes you write that it was you? Other people have made the statement too without any fuss.

As for "running off", pur-lease, it was my birthday on Sunday and frankly I had better things to do with my time. I could just imagine what inane drivel was being spouted on here anyway off the back of one rating, so there was no need to log on. |

Ahh, so a C5 programme going from 2.6 milion to 1.4 isnt bad, but a C4 programme going from 2 to 1.4 is terrible.
Thanks. So basically, you are full of it. Its not even amusing any more Even for your usual antagonistic standards, this is a new low. |

They should waffle a bit about those definitely, because they're pretty impressive.

On C5 I watch CSI, The Mentalist and Law & Order, stuff like that ... but that's OK because I'm not the demograph they want watching BB ![]() Looking through the TV guide for next week, it looks like C5 has a couple of new series starting - Superior Interiors on Tuesday and Ultimate Emergency Bikers on Wednesday - not tailored to the 16-34 demograph I would have said. So, is there something in the pipeline for when BB finishes or is all this new demograph % just supposed to hang about until the start of CBB in the New Year? |

I hope you had a nice birthday on Sunday Dancc.
I loved last nights ep. I really hope people watching start telling people about it-the flashback thing works brilliantly in regards to a casual viewer understanding what's going on without watching previously. |

![]() What an outstanding example of how Big Brother should be the Portuguese show is. I wonder if Channel 5 know what a huge instant hit this is with those unsatisfied with the reconstructed form of UKBB. |

Nominations are generally always my favourite of the week, but I'm loving the whole Faye/Aaron relationship as well. That's been really interesting to watch. And obviously Rebeckah stirring it up has been great from the show's point-of-view. All in all, irrespective of ratings, it's shaping up to be one of my favourite series so far.
