I didn't think it would do THAT badly

Getting to a million was an almost impossible task seeing what it was up against

I would have thought at least 500-750k, but that is an awful rating for ANY BB show

Pretty much underlines Aaron's popularity...hahahaha. Perfect end to the worst series of BB in the history of the show, with one of the poorest winners.

Finale Week Officials:

BIG BROTHER (FRI 2103) 2.18m Aaron wins; Jay, Alex and Louise are evicted
BIG BROTHER (THU 2100) 1.87m Tom is evicted
BIG BROTHER (TUE 2159) 1.70m
BIG BROTHER (MON 2200) 1.63m
BIG BROTHER (WED 2100) 1.43m
The Wednesday edition a good 200k+ lower than the other shows, giving an indication of what was to come the following week for a wrapup show against a returning IAC.

Over on 5*, a special edition of Big Brother's Bit on the Side saw the spinoff show achieve its best ever figures on the digital channel with 444k tuning in for an edition presented live from the Big Brother garden itself at 10pm on Wednesday. Tuesday's edition meanwhile back in the studio achieved 347k.

Overall, Channel 5 Corporation achieved a 6.2% share of the TV audience during BB Finale Week, this was up nearly 10% on the 5.7% recorded for the equivalent week last year. Channel 5 itself rose its share from 4.3% to 4.6%, the only major commercial channel to increase its audience year-on-year.

See you in January.

A well looked for silver-lining.

Considering the amount of money C5 chucked at BB, the regular series was an abysmal failure from a ratings point of view. And even worse from an entertainment angle. They are pretty much only making BB13 because they're contractually obliged to (though I would be very surprised if it was 'normal' BB in the traditional sense).

Weren't you adament about there not being a BB13 and definitely being a different version? Bit of backtracking there

Also, if you didn't watch this year, how would you have any idea about the entertainment value? Especially as many people on here rank this BB higher than a lot of the C4 ones..

C5's ratings have all dropped since BB ended:

If they go up again when BB13 is on they'll probably renew it.

A lot of people have left, the forum isn't half as active as last year. Most people who don't watch won't post.

They'll be making a summer series - that was always going to happen because they're contractually obliged to do so. But it's looking like it could be a 'semi-celeb' event. Probably something along the lines of Celeb Hijack, only with D-listers this time.

I did watch this year. It wasn't easy...but I did watch. Only Mark had any kind of entertainment value, IMHO. Didn't get the Aaron adoration at all.

Not sure - they're putting a hell of a lot of money in to get a relatively modest rise in viewers. If BB12 had averaged something close to what CBB got, no question R Desmond would be jumping up and down with his cheque book flapping.

I think the real test will be how much Desmond can make from the housemates.

Actually, putting aside the matter of your latest made-up story, this is exactly right. The real benefits for the show to the station come from potential spin-offs. The first appears to be this nonsense involving Amy or whatever her name was. If that somehow gathers viewers then BB and CBB will become a generator of inane reality tv shows for years to come. I reckon in an odd way the success of the Amy show is probably more important to BB's future than anything else. If it, and other such shows, fail then no matter how high BB's ratings go BB won't last long, but if these shows work then no matter how low BB's ratings go BB will be around for a long while.

Anyhow, here's the statistics for overnights, uplift, officials :

L: 2.630 + .137 = 2.767
1: 1.416 + .215 = 1.632
2: 1.291 + .204 = 1.495
3: 1.268 + .243 = 1.510
4: 1.308 + .265 = 1.573
5: 1.329 + .191 = 1.520
6: 1.277 + .200 = 1.477
7: 1.364 + .196 = 1.560
8: 1.222 + .207 = 1.430
9: 1.330 + .210 = 1.539
F: 2.060 + .121 = 2.181

Series average: 1.341 + .212 = 1.554, which is 45% down on CBB's 2.814. The average share was 7.139%, 40% down.

The daily averages and highest and lowests were:

Sat - 1.24: 1.04 - 1.67
Sun - 1.48: 1.36 - 1.72
Mon - 1.61: 1.50 - 1.73
Tue - 1.60: 1.45 - 1.80
Wed - 1.57: 1.42 - 1.65
Thu - 1.58: 1.37 - 1.73
Evict - 1.71: 1.41 - 1.93
Interview - 1.42: 1.23 - 1.57

The worst HL show was 1.04 with the bottom 8 HL shows all coming on a Saturday. 12 shows were above 1.7m. The combined average for CBB + BB was 1.608 + .244 = 1.852 with an average share of 8.284%

Since ending, tv programs in BB's slot have achieved ratings in the range 0.6-0.8m, or in other words BB did around twice as well as the other programs C5 put on. Curiously those programs were their better ones of mainly American imports and only their films have got any sort of viewers.

I predict a 2.5m average for the next CBB based on its ratings in the second half of the first run.

Yep, already we have:
All About Amy
When Paddy Met Sally
The rumoured Jay/Louise fly on the wall show.
