Husband is thinking about buying one of these.
Does anyone have any opinions on it? Good, bad?
Is there anything better out there?
Cheers

How much has he seen this for?

After a quick look on the Halfords web site they have other Tomtom models that look to do the same but are cheaper.

Don't have that particular model, we have the TT Go 530 which is very good - the map updates are expensive though.

I have had a Go Live 1005 since 8th September. I really can't comment about its abilities in-car yet because I have had a torrid time over the last fourteen days trying to load up-to-date software and maps. It appears there are immense problems with these comparatively new devices in the TomTom range and if you Google something along the lines of "TomTom Live problems" you will see what I mean. Currently I am working with level two support in an attempt to get the "Live" services working which shouldn't be the case because TomTom claims it should work out of the box! Doubtless if TomTom support is able to get my device working properly everything will be wonderful but it shouldn't be like this.

Just to give you an idea of some of the problems have a look at these customer reviews on Amazon:

Further to my earlier post I have, at last, achieved solutions to the problems indicated. It has been a long hard slog but everything is now working as it should. The stupid thing is that once you have negotiated the wading through treacle aspect of TomTom support the resolution of the problems appears to be quite simple and straightforward; but they have to be carried out by TomTom personnel, things like resetting your sim card on the TomTom servers and so on (I don't profess to understand all that went on).

So although TomTom have been rightly condemned around the world for their inefficiencies; in fairness I must say that now (fingers crossed) I have a device which may just turn out to be brilliant.
