Because over here (US) when we go to the trouble and cost of adding a lane to a road it's for moving more traffic. Because over here (US) when we go to the trouble and cost of adding a lane to a road it's for moving more traffic. The only lane we would tend to try and move out of is the enter/exit lane on high/freeways which is the rightmost lane. |

Though the example in the photograph was probably acceptable as there appeared to be very little traffic on that section of motorway. The real annoyance is when Lane 1 is empty but Lanes 2 and 3 are both busy which can result in being given a fixed penalty by the police. |

But with lighter traffic, the recommendation is to keep left. In practice what happens is that trucks keep to lane 1, and cars to lane 2. The problem is that illustrated on the show, where there is very light traffic but someone still insists on staying in the middle lane; in the UK, someone in lane 1 isn't allowed to 'undertake' on the inside, but is expected to swerve across two lanes to overtake then back again. |

Sometimes the left hand lane is full of slow moving lorries to the horizon. In that situation I will keep to the middle lane, which seems only common sense if I'm going consistently quicker than all those on the left. It would be perverse to do otherwise.
I also keep to the right for as long as possible on a two-lane dual carriageway, because if not, you can guarantee that a moronic lorry driver will try to overtake another lorry, forming a road block for the next two miles or more. I love Jo Brand. |

When Ben put shoelaces in I laughed as I cannot tie them either (maybe he has co-ordination or spatial awarness issues like me). Also has anybody in the history of the show ever had the guts to put The Daily Mail in Room 101?.

As glad as I am at the return of Room 101 in any form, why did they have to bring it back as a panel show???
Frank Skinner is a superb host, no changes needed there. But the existing format was fine. One celebrity a week, usually with a really great list of angry dislikes, many memorable ones but the John Peel one has to be my favourite. Much more focus and effort went into each subject and it was far less watered down. One of the main hooks was that it was one solitary persons grumpy dislikes. As soon as you make it more than one person you have completely spoiled that dynamic. I'm sure this has all been said already, but I thought I'd echo that view if it has. Maybe the BBC will see sense and revert back to the old format. It's not supposed to be a damn Buzzcocks, 8 out of 10 cats, mock the week type show, so why do this? The extra storage edition is even worse. As if the edited show isn't boring enough, we get 10 minutes of material that was too dull even for that show. There were some real uncomfortable silences during this weeks show, some terrible misfires. This format isn't working. |
