There's two things I miss about the old format:
1) it had interesting guests on, not the usual suspects of the panel show games. Felt a bit more like a (admittedly low brow) Desert Island Discs. And that said I like most of the usual suspects but ya know, I can see most of them several times a night on Dave! 2) I enjoy that it's also like an interview and you found out more about the person and heard new stories. I love Frank but wish they'd return to the old format. |

This week I liked Greg Davies' choice of hotel check-in/check-out where the receptionist is tapping away at the computer for ages (so true) and his comment that he once looked behind the desk and they were just playing the castanets.

I was at the recording of last week’s show (last October I think). I was in the front row next to Frank, it was a good night out.
![]() Katy Price was wearing a very short dress... so let’s just say I had an ‘interesting’ view! I would say I’ve seen parts of her that very few people have seen, but that’s not really true is it? ![]() Interestingly it was the final recording of the series, yet it was 3rd in the broadcast order of this series. |

Skinner was at it again this week.
Cut off Heston mid anecdote and then made a unconnected Rod Stewart joke. |

He's there to chivvy things along and react mostly, he's taken over and jumps in with crunching gear changes while he levers in his long winded gags and cut-aways. Stick it back on BBC Two with Nick Hancock, a budget out of the petty cash tin, then it can go back to it's more gentler style with the jokes coming naturally. This has more gags but it's so disjointed it's annoying. |

They've really made a mess of this series. The editing is atrocious and the nonsense of declaring a 'winner' at the end is ludicrous when it bears absolutely no relation to what we've just seen.

I have zero interest in who 'wins', suspect the guests couldn't give a $hit either. I zone that bit out. |

Latest episode was a very weird one.
James makes a point about how geese are horrible, Frank brings up a handful of things that SUPPORT his claim rather than argue them, but he decides against it anyway just because...? Also James' retort of "Nazis were organized too!" has to be the best counter-counter this show has ever seen. Then again James mentions how shot put is one of the most boring sports TO WATCH so Frank simulates playing shot put to try and counter James' argument? For some reason I do like this show, even though it's so clearly "off" and the show tries to shoe-horn all these "interactive" parts in to try and make the show interesting, when really the show-runners should learn that the concept and ranting alone is what makes the show, I wish they would stop trying to detract from that. |

I'd say this show is on its last legs. The latest "refresh" has made it worse and clearly shows the production team have no idea what made the show entertaining.
They said they removed the models because they were too much work, then make a jacket out of fake grass for Frank. The models were part of the show's DNA, the props used by Frank are often totally unfunny. If it gets another series, it needs to be totally different. |

I can't stand James Acaster, but every now and again I have to grudgingly concede he comes up with the goods, that Nazi comeback is one of these occasions, I still can't stand him.
I'd say the production team are just trying too hard, they're only looking at the gag per minute rate and thinking the format is only there to serve the gags. I suspect they've been told their making a bollox of it so just try harder and bollox it even more. Oh Franks singing the other week, WTF was that about another crashing gearchange. I've never seen Grease, but Ian Wright seemed to be on a bit of roll with some support from the audience, why didn't they ride that a bit more for gags, no Frank jumps in and ruins it. Give it back to BBC Two and the old production team, slash the budget and don't try and make it into something they 'think' is a BBC One show. I must say Room 101 is candidate for my Room 101 item now it's peeing me off so much ![]() Mark Williams of Fast Show said sometimes the team (Charlie etc) would say something isn't funny, lets drop it and someone from production would say 'it'll be funny on the night' the team would have to argue 'no it's not funny, just drop it' Doesn't mean the Fast show team were infallible mind. |

His retort was the funniest part of the show. Also when the pic came up and he said something like "that's my choice winning then". Maybe Skinner and the production team are too comfortable and just sleepwalking through making the series these days. |

I switched off when the professional shotput competitor came on. It felt like something that belonged on The One Show (and that's not a dig at The One Show) rather than Room 101. As ShotDownInFlame said, it's the ranting that is the selling point of the programme. I'm not watching it to see celebs try new things.

This week's show was, like, better than, like, usual. The Oz guy wasn't up to much, but the other 2 had unusual choices.

Meera didn't mention being Indian once. That must be the longest I have ever seen her speak without her referencing her ethnicity

I think I probably preferred the original concept of one guest presenting four or five of their pet hates as you were able to cram in a lot of entertainment into one show. When the format changed for the first time making it a panel game, I think it worked quite well as the guests were given categories from which to choose their pet hates, eg, modern living, the workplace etc and it made for a proper "competition" between the guests and just seemed to gel better making the show a lot more watchable. I see now that it has changed back to completely random choices and I think the show's now a bit of a mess. One guest might say....they can't stand people who fart in confined spaces and the next one - broadsheet newspapers and it seems to me that Frank skinner just chooses the winner in as just a random fashion (eeny meeny miny mo). There's so much faffing around between each guest that it seems really disjointed and over in seconds. Either go back to having one guest per show, or give it some structure!
