Guests used to only appear once on Room 101 (I believe).

Will this new format mean that we have another panel show that Sarah Millican can appear on every other week?
don't joke..think sh es on next week,

Enjoyed it but certainly won't be watching next week, a lump of shit on a stick is more credible than the guests.

embarassingly unfunny.

It was okay, nothing more. I'll watch it on I-player when I'm bored. Fern Britton was hopeless though.

Danny Baker was funny, but his choices seemed a bit esoteric really.

Do we really need another panel show on BBC1?

No word of a lie, next week's guests are

Frank Skinner invites MasterChef's Gregg Wallace, comedian Sarah Millican and television presenter Gabby Logan to compete to have their pet hates and peeves consigned to Room 101.
It does seem strange that they have changed into yet another panel show, I certainly will not be watching next week if Millican is on and I doubt whether I will be watching much in the future.

Perhaps they can just make up a generic panel show set and record all the different ones in one day, the third rate comedians on the panel are always the same so they could save money by recording them all on the same day.

There have been some silly choices over the years - when Paul Merton first started I didnt like him presenting because he put literally everything in Room 101, and it was more dramatic when items went on the conveyor belt.
In one episode Davina McCall wanted to put Frank Sinatra's music in Room 101, and Paul Merton did!
But the very last episode (with Paul v Ian Hislop) was brilliant
There were a few good moments in this new format (the proposal to put panel shows in was funny ) but there were too many guests IMO.

Didn't like it. Pointless revamp and now it's just yet another panel show with scarce gags and little depth.

I don't see why you're so shocked as it's all about opinions. Unlike you I would also have put Sinatra's music in there, neither of us are right or wrong about this.

So what current show do you think is funny enough for you to keep on series record?

I wonder if anybody has complied a list of all the "panel" shows on TV weekly they seem everywhere be it on terrestrial or cable/sky possibly because they are very cheap to make.

The same old dross week after week the only panel show i enjoy watching is," have i got news for you" the rest are rent a celeb because its easy money for them, not much hard graft required and cheap for tv companies to produce, i think they can do two a day and crank them out .

Less panel shows please.

As for the new format i used to like Room 101 but not as yet another panel show.

Obviously gonna depend on the quality of the guests each week - and I thought Robert Webb and Danny Baker were both pretty good. Overall it was a decent enough start.
I agree. I must be in the minority, because I thought the new format was better. Robert Webb in particular was excellent in my opinion, and Danny Baker is always good value, despite liking the sound of his own voice a bit too much for my liking. But it will depend on the guests, and unfortunately next week doesn't sound so promising.

I agree, I usually watch Have I Got News For You and the only other one is Qi but I often find that is full of the usual RentaPanellist third rate comedians so switch off.

Some of the Danny Baker stuff (that went on for ages) did have the audience sitting there in almost total silence (as in confusion and/or shock)!

I haven't watched the broadcast version yet (recorded on Sky box) so will look to see if they've dubbed on any laughter than didn't exist!

Have you tried "Would I lie to You" ?..one of the funniest shows on tv..in my opinion.
I think it all depends, some shows just over-stay their welcome. I can't stand "8 out of !0 Cats" any more. It began brightly enough, but they appear to have been reduced to trawling for Z-List reality tv guests to make up the numbers.

I really enjoyed the show but didn't think there was anything wrong with the old format. The later suffered when the guests weren't comedians with a few exceptions eg Michael Gambon. I almost died of laughter when the late Peter Cook was on but Alan Sugar was a disaster.

I prefer the old format personally, but I do like Frank Skinner. I just think I'd enjoy it more if they went back to one guest and let them pick anythink they wanted, rather thann having categories. The good thing about the old format was that you got to know abit about the guests and they usua;;y came up with some golden choices to put into Room 101

Absolutely I don't think Davina put forward very good arguments though.

I've not seen the new show yet, but I had give up on the old format. It had become very twee, faux-offensive (being an excuse to slag things/people off) and I'd stopped watching it.

I agree - 'Would I Lie to You' is the funniest of these comedy panel shows by a mile IMO.

Would also agree by and large about '8 Out of 10 Cats', although Jon Richardson is a big improvement on Jason Manford.

Of the others, Mock the Week is now well past its sell-by date; QI still has its good moments but also too many duff ones - in fact practically the whole show was a write-off IMO when Nina Conti was on

So what they have done is merged Frank Skinner's panel show with Room 101, doesn't work. The whole point was for guests to bring up something they hate and convince it deserves to go into Room 101. Now we have guests being told what area to choose from and then compete against each other. It loses what Room 101 was.

It was only a matter of time before that annoying unfunny woman would appear on this show, perhaps the good news about this format is that at least 3 other people have to share the time with her.
