Recipe for "soft" flapjacks
In shops you can buy flapjacks which are soft and crumbly. Blackfriers, etc.
When I've tried to make flapjacks from recipes, I get a very different thing. Usually rock hard and stuck together. I would really, really, like a good recipe for "shop" style soft crumbly flapjacks. Does anyone have one? |

IF they are hard - over cooking and too hot. Is what I think.

I think you need to tell us whether you are cooking with gas or electric and also give us your recipe you use,so we can look at it and modify to make it more pliable.

Perhaps I could try "Felicity's" recipe on here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandsty...fect-flapjacks and see what happens. |

I use this one - family go mad for it!
8oz caster sugar 8oz self raising flour 8oz porridge oats 8oz butter/stork Tbsp golden syrup Melt butter and golden syrup in saucepan and mix with dry ingredients, make about 15 balls of mixture and press down slightly. Cook at 180 c for about 15 mins until light to medium brown. HTH |

I use the flapjack recipe from BBC website, if you want them softer I would suggest using more syrup, sugar and butter.
Or cooking in a tin that means they are thicker. Be careful not to over cook, they are very soft when they come out the oven but harden up quickly so take them out as soon as they have coloured. |

I have Chinchilla's recipe (half measures) cooking in the oven as I type. I'll give the BBC one a go once I have all the ingredients.
Thanks all. |

Tesco Food Magazine recipe - competition entry winner.
175g golden syrup 175g Flora cuisine 125g granulated sugar 350g rolled oats ¼ level teaspoon salt grated zest of 2 lemons Put the Flora cuisine and golden syrup into a large microwaveable bowl and heat on Low for 20 - 30 seconds until warm and melted when stirred. Weigh out the oats, and to them add the sugar, salt and grated zest. Then add this dry mixture to the warm melted syrup mixture, and stir well. Tip into a 9" square baking tin that's been well greased, spreading evenly. Bake approx. 30 minutes until light golden brown. Wait 5 mins. then mark into 16 pieces. Lift out carefully to cool on a wire rack. For an extra treat, melt some chocolate and dip and half coat the flapjacks. |
