Anyone remember the old MSN Chat?
MSN got rid of it thanks to the PC brigade saying peodphiles were always on it targeting kids. IMO it was a knee jerk reaction and Microsoft missed out as they would have easily incorporated a social network had they just waited 2 more years. They would have had the biggest social network.

MSN messenger and MSN chatrooms were great. The chatrooms are now gone, the pedophiles use bebo and tagged and messenger has become a joke
I also remember for a while when I had AOL the groups they had. |

Any memorable rooms? |

But apart from that, used to like the avatars you could have, wish they would bring it back, but with more secure feature |

Chatrooms are crap
I used chatrooms years ago. It was all...
"Hello X, have you seen Y?" "No. How's it going, anyway?" "Fine, thanks." I swear, it was all crap like that. I dread to imagine what kind of husband could be acquired in such a manner. Once, I entered a teenaged chatroom where every second post contained the term "OMG!" I told them I was a former United Nations weapon inspector seeking teenaged companionship. How does one get the child porn, by the way? |

I lived in the quiz rooms so avoided most of the hard core discussion, unless it was an argument over the capital of Brazil.

I used to spend as much time in the 'London Global 1' chat room on Yahoo, as I do on DS now. It was a lot of fun, with fast running conversation and getting to know lots of people. A group of us even got to meet up several times at parties. I met up with a girl who came over from America, she came to meet the man she'd met online, sadly it never lasted, but we met up a few times while she was here.
Does anyone know why the Yahoo chatrooms disappeared? |

Do you mean MS Comic Chat, which showed your conversations as a comic strip?
http://data.whicdn.com/images/868917...jpg?1302456216 As I recall, it worked on any IRC channel and basically animated the expressions. Hence where the infamous Comic Sans typeface came from. Really neat idea from MS (for once) and one that they appear to hold a patent for, so less chance of anyone else bothering to do something similar in the meantime. |

I loved MSN chatrooms, I frequented the 80s music room and it was so funny at times, we were all online friends and all had that common interest, it was the best of times
I also met my hubby in there, so did 2 of my real friends. It was a sad day when they closed them, there are copies such as oasiz which uses the same programme, but people just dont use the rooms anymore. |

Its a name we're not really allowed to mention on on here and we're most certainly not allowed to voice any doubts or suspicions but it involves a missing child and is of a sensitive nature,
