Was quite suprised yet very happy when I looked at the Official Radio 1 Midweek Chart Update today where I found Nicola Roberts's Lucky Day - a song that hasn't done as well as I hoped on Itunes - at No.28!!

She's hardly had much airplay (Radio 1 as usual snub anyone from a girlband who isn't Cheryl Cole, they don't playlist girlband songs much either) and hasn't made it to the Top.50 on the online charts so I'm a bit surprised how she's got there.
I know that there were physical copies being sold on the website so I guess there were loads of those sold and airplay/videoplay has been higher than I thought

Parade did this with Perfume which I think only peaked around either #42 or the Top.40 on Itunes and dropped like a pin mid-week but somehow scraped #38 on Sunday

i shall download.

Im shocked, this is a tragedy, it should be in the top 5, if this song had the rest of girls aloud in it, it would have zoomed to number one.

iTunes isn't the be all and end all. Sites like amazon sell a fair amount of singles.

I've got my Lucky Day 'bundle' Signed CD, Maxi-CD and Vinyl and i adore it. Nicola knows she has fans who appreciate all her output but it is a shame that Radio 1 can playlist some utter crap but this doesn't get listed?!

i like this song alot. suffering from zero airplay though.
i am actually getting REALLY peeved off with this. all these good songs/artists slipping through the net. it seems you only stand a chance of getting heavy rotation on music channels, or a piece of the radio1 playlist if you have appeared on X factor. its an absolute ****ing joke

well Radio1 usually A-list every Saturdays single latley.

maybe they don't want to play her music because its not as mainstream as Cheryls and she looks like the bride of wilderstein

It was #18 yesterday in the mid-weeks. She'll be either out of the top 40 come Sunday or just inside it.

Agreed. It might just scrape the top 40 with a bit more promotion, which is a shame, as it's the single of the year for me.

I think the answer to why it's got no airplay is because it's a dire song and her voice is horrendous.

I actually didn't think "Lucky Day," would've featured in the Midweeks, but was pleasantly surprised it did.

Although, I agree it is likely to drop down a fair bit. "Beat Of My Drum," was at #11, I think, in the Midweeks, but debuted at #27 officially...

I'm surprised it's at 28 given the severe lack of airplay! I guess there must be a lot of physical's sold. I hope the song goes top 20 at a push cause it's really good.

How come she seems to be receiving zero air play? It really is starting to get on my nerves as I am loving her tracks so far.

The song is excellent and no radio play atall. It's a f**king sham tbh.

I don't think it's Nicola/her team's fault either. Ahh listening to the talented Dappy all day..what better!!!

I totally agree, it really is quite frustrating! I'm happy i've pre-ordered the album.

Me too

If the album goes top 10 then that'd be great for Nicola, the company/management or whatever, there could be more chance of a possible 2nd album or re-release or atleast "something".

However with Girls Aloud 99% reforming next year for the 10th anniversery, it does sorta make it any of the girls' last solo efforts.

Because Radio 1 and other stations seem to regard all Girls Aloud solo stuff the same. Cheryl only got airplay due to her popularity on X Factor.
