It's been a fair while since I last contributed to this thread, so methinks it's about time I posted again.
As I've previously stated often enough I like any post I make to this thread to have some sort of theme, and this post is no exception. I've decided not to divulge today's theme, because you don't exactly need the brain of Albert Einstein to work out what it is.
Manfred Mann - 5-4-3-2-1 (1964)
I like most Manfred Mann singles, but this one, their third release and their first ever hit, is probably my favourite of the lot. As far as I know, this is the only song about the Trojan War to ever make the UK Top Ten.
Wilson Pickett - 634-5789 (1966)
Marvellous track by a sixties soul legend.
The Troggs - 66-5-4-3-2-1 (1966)
Reg died fairly recently, so this is a somewhat belated tribute to him. This fine track was the B-side of
Any Way That You Want Me.
Keith - 98.6 (1967)
If I were to list my top ten favourite intros then
98.6 by Keith would almost certainly be included, and if I were to list my top ten favourite one hit wonders then
98.6 by Keith would almost certainly be included on that too. Fabulous track.
