Sugababes - The Sound of Album 8
I think the issue they've found themselves in is that they just aren't appealing to younger audiences, and so whilst it's easy for them to do generic shit like Get Sexy or The Saturday's All Fired Up (which their original second single was meant to be), it's not enough to generate album sales.
So I think they need to step away from dance-pop and synth-sounds, and just go back to basics. More Radio 2 than Radio 1. More Heart than Capital. Stuff like this basically: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO1OV5B_JDw |

The "slut" image never suited them and they should stay away from music that relates to that kind of image too.
Classy ballads was always the babes' main strength so they should go back to that. They won't though as Jade Ewan, despite her good voice, promotes that slutty image (she is always doing that crass stripper move in their videos where she raises her leg above her head. It always makes me cringe

In all honesty, I WISH the problem was the sound. The song you posted is bland (imo) and not suitable for a girl group like the Babes (sorry) and I'm sure that they can find a direction that will suit them. However, their problem is not there!Even if they released the damn best song of the whole year, they would still have lacklustre sales because people just can't give them a chance, which seems quite odd to me.They are never going to be on par with 2.0, but after the watered down and uneventhful 3.0 line-up, I am honestly surprised that people bash them.'Freedom' alone was a much better and more daring track than everything they've released since 'Taller In More Ways'.Some people say that the new sound is not the Sugababes sound, when in fact the cutting edge, innovative and eclectic feel of the group has been demolished since 'Change' and Keisha was still there, but didn't do anything to stop it.
I believe in the new line-up, I think they understand what the Sugababes are about and that they can represent the brand well with the right launching method and the right promo. As ironic as it may sound, the song is the least important factor right now. |

I would likem to the darkish Pop/Urban sound that Angels with dirty faces had. I don't want them to do the dance thing or do typical pop. But i know they will.
Freedom had that Freak like me vibe so if they followed it on from there, album 8 could be very Dirty faces ish. |

I'm a fan of the girls, but enough is enough.
The name has got to go. These girls deserve better. |

The singles from Angels with Dirty Faces are good. I don't actually have the album though so I'm going to listen to it later.

I think they will do alright, they need to be on every TV show and get their music UNIQUE.

Xenomania are shit though. They need to get Adele's team in.

Haven't Xenomania disbanded or something??And besides, while there's no denying they created some epic pop songs in the 00's, they still haven't produced a smash hit for quite a long time, so they're not hitmakers in the tradiitonal sense anymore. And the suggestion about Adele's team is a little...non-Sugababes (sorry Dizagaox).
My opinion is that they should get themselves something that the radio will playlist, something techno or electro. It must NOT be generic, but it has to have elements of 2011 hits. They have to follow the trends and push them forward at the same time and in the album tracks they can still do something riskier and less radio friendly, but for the singles it all has to be about the radio and the new fans, because it's blatantly obvious that they are not going to gain all the 2.0 fans back
